How do you know that the person that you've sold your car to doesn't have multiple DUI's? Or is constantly driving drunk but hasn't been caught yet? If they kill a kid with that car are you responsible?

Many, many times more people are killed in car crashes than by guns....I bet even more than in almost any other industrialized nation.

One needs a driver's license to buy a car, don't they? Besides, your analogy is bogus.

THEY are willing to use the words assault weapon and few, if any, even know what one of those things are. This is getting more ridiculous all the time. I really think they are talking about semi-automatic and thinking that means assault weapon.

As a result of our weak, nearly nonexistent laws restricting access to guns, every year we end up with approximately 12,000 gun homicides, 18,000 gun suicides or fatal accidents, and another 70,000 gun injuries.

Ten years ago, the killers at Columbine had a friend buy guns for them at a gun show from a so-called private seller because Brady background checks aren't required for those sales.

I am not alone about this and it will not interfere with the 2nd amendment.

I do believe we should outlaw the sale of semiautomatic rifles and large capacity magazines of ammunition. There is no need for a person outside the military to own such a weapon.

I do believe we should outlaw gun shows, allowing sales by only authorized dealers who are required to make sure all the necessary paperwork is filled out.

I do believe we should use every bit of technology available to identify who has and uses guns.

Nothing in these ideas will interfer with the Second Amendment, and our Constitutional rights.

Not sure who Smith is but it's just a little funny that the Daily Democrat's sponsored advertiser is the CIA. Just noting.

Home invasions, are increasing in numbers and escalating in violence. A law abiding citizen has the right to defend his property and family. Assault weapons would definitely stop a home invasion.
