You want to play the hypothetical game? What if?....what if?. How about we talk about WHAT IS. And what is now is the armed and sick preying on the vulnerable.

You don't like the idea, actually I don't either but being armed against the armed is going to be the best way to POSSIBLY stop these wackos. OR AT LEAST it will limit the destruction they can do.

Guns are not the problem. For example, look at the places where events occur. The crazys could attack a police station. But they know the police are armed and they will have less impact and less drama and less news media. IF they remove the guns then the crazys will just move on to some other weapon of destruction but the targets would likely stay the same. The answer is to give the schools employees the tools to secure their students and workplace and to improve the physical security at the schools. And stop advertising with those gun safe signs. They are like a flag saying come get me.

If it's a concealed weapon and the teacher is trained, how does the student know he's carrying ?

How many teachers would want to be armed? If they told me I had to be trained and carry a firearm, I'd be looking for a new job. I think it would be a small minority of teachers who would want to do this.

I suppose teachers don't have mental issues and don't have bad days in their lives? I guess all teachers act like Ms. Landers from Leave It To Beaver? Imagine an armed, stressed out over whatever teacher locking a classroom door and and taking out her anger of kids who may be annoying her anyway.

That would have prevented 9/11 and the twin towers would still be standing.

It certainly would be a class you'd be afraid to be a smart azz back to the teacher or not pay attention.

To answer 11th hour and cecil. Perhaps not all teachers need be armed, I wouldn't think it should be required. Or people at the school other than teachers directly be armed. One problem is many teachers themselves resist the idea and as I am saying it is time confront reality or take a chance.

Cecil, another what if game? What if a cop has a bad day? You are looking for excuses. So many citizen gun owners in this country and MOST of them are responsible with it. How is it you come to conclusion of distrust to a citizen but have such confidence in a police officer or government security agent, I mean they are human also and could just as easily have a bad day.

I drive a school bus and I DO NOT want a gun.

There are days that I might be tempted to fire a warning shot through the roof!

There may be an instance of it but I can't recall the last time a policeman committed a mass murder?
