Progressive meaning "emphasizing Science and deemphasizing Religion" is subjective. Because plenty of people consider that regressive.
....or you could just look it up and see why you are wrong:
"Definition of PROGRESSIVE

1
: of, relating to, or characterized by progress
: making use of or interested in new ideas, findings, or opportunities

2
: of, relating to, or characterized by progression
3
: moving forward or onward : advancing"

That isn't the political definition....that's the literal definition...

But fortunately for you....

The political definition says

Quote:
the political orientation of those who favor progress toward better conditions in government and society.
UNfortunately for you.....that's a subjective and arbitrary definition.

I am.
Right up until they try to force their beliefs on me in any way, shape or form.
At that point, all courtesy is over with.

You might consider it.

Moving forward to what? Classifying the union of two people of the same sex the same as two people of the opposite sex? That's not progress, that's stupidity.

Better educated, which makes them less likely to believe political propaganda such as FOX "News" stories.

Actually, it goes beyong the Northeast. It is true on the West Coast, New Mexico, The Mid-Atlantic. In all of these regions, White America has been voting against the GOP's pandering Southern Strategy. They understood it was aimed at the Lowest Common Denominator, and being educated, they understand math, and the fact the depopulated Mountain states plus the Confederacy has never, and will never, contain 270 electoral votes.

The important question is when will the Establishment GOP take control back from the wing nut folks who have wrecked the GOP?

You don't know many scientists do you?

It wasn't that long ago that a good example of cutting edge science was sticking an icepick up someone's nose and swirling it in order to cure that person of insanity.

To be fair, Dr. Freeman was only charging $25 for a lobotomy through the eye sockets. You get what you pay for.

That direct result of most conservative ideas being unable to stand up under the weight of intellectual rigor.

Thre are some exceptions, of course. One professor in my university once said in class that Muslims in the US should conform to American culture, otherwise they can leave. As you can imagine he was crticized and forced to apologize. I am not saying he was right, but it shows conservatives have a hard time in college.
The reason conservatives have a hard time in college is that ideology based on fear, bigotry, hatred and ignorance simply cannot be supported by any objective measure.

Quote:
Another anthropology professor said there should be no race in America and refused to report her and her son's "race" for some paperwork and caused some trouble. She is actually Jewish but is against religion.
Anybody who has seriously undertaken the study of race KNOWS it's a social construct and not a biological construct. The concept of race was created to support the economic exploitation and social and political dominance and exploitation of one group people over another. The sad part is most people in this country have not educated themselves about this and still perpetuate it.

Quote:
I am not religious, but I am socially conservative. Many people are just like me. and neither party represents our ideology.
A testament to the fact your particular beliefs are politically and socially untenable on a sustained basis. Social conservatives had their shot during the "Moral Majority" era from the early 1980s to the late 1990s. As can be seen now the country has pretty much repudiated social conservative ideology. It is pretty much a ideology that is supported in rural areas the South and parts of the Mountain West.
