Young children and old people with walkers will celebrate alike by joyfully firing their Sig Sauers into the air.
Your solution is "less guns" but you haven't suggested how you will confiscate guns from criminals and mentally ill who aren't concerned what the government has banned.

You guys live in a fantasy world.

the only legit gun control idea is to confiscate every gun from every person in the country. the governmetn will have to raid people's houses and secure every firearm that is out there. Then you will have to make sure no other firearms come in through Mexico and elsewhere.

I get tired of liberals saying that gun control is the solution but then they refuse to push for a universal ban that involves the governmetn raiding people's houses. Let's do gun control if you think it's so important but anything short of universal confiscation of weapons isn't effective gun control.

Most gun crimes are committed with stolen guns. If gun owners were held accountable for crimes committed with their guns, maybe they would start securing their guns, and keeping them out of the hands of criminals.

Yes we need more guns on the street just like our military needs more bombers, aircraft carriers, missiles so we can prevent rogue militants from attacking us.

More might always scares away the bad guys.

Those armed cops in KC really scared away the bad guys last night.

Any more smart ideas.

Reclassify semi autos and make them a class1.0 or something equivalent and charge a small fee for doing a back ground check and then a law that does not allow sale unless you do the same transfer.

So because we screwed up and let a bunch of idiots get guns in the past, we can't try to take steps now to fix it?

And the only step we can take is to make it even easier for crazy people to get a gun? Who's living in a fantasy world with that?

Default another suggestion

I think we should start by gathering some facts instead of guessing or social conditioning. We could start by collecting police data in violent crime from all over the world as well as the social situations in all those places. Then we could observe where the most violent and the most peaceful places are and then figure out the correlation between culture, violence and the availability of guns. Once we have figured out what situations are least violent we will have a defined goal to work for. Until then we are just guessing. We cannot afford to guess any longer because false knowledge can lead to more people getting killed before we figure it out.

Well it appears it was the mother who screwed up by not locking up her guns. She's dead now so we can't imprison her. Do you want to lock up the brother and the father who weren't living there?

I'm not a gun "lover." What the h*ll does that even mean? A gun is a tool--it's not a toy, or at least it shouldn't be. You hunt for food or protect people and property with it. It serves a common sense purpose, just like a tractor or a plow. People talk about "cowboy" violence in this country, but I was raised by a cowboy (my dad was a rancher), and I'm married to a former cowboy now. They don't see any sense in this either--my husband thinks any type of rifle with a magazine over six shots shouldn't be available to the public. Around here at least, it's the stupid city people who show up at gun ranges or out to hunt armed like they're heading to Afghanistan.

We're always going to have gun violence in this country--someone is going to grab a rifle and shoot their wife or hold up a grocery store--but we'd have a better shot at controlling some of the mass murders if unstable people didn't have tools available to them to take out entire rooms of people in a moment without reloading. Under those circumstances, anyone trying to disarm the shooter doesn't have a chance. There's no single answer to any of this, and it involves lots of issues--we need to find a way to identify people who are dangerous, and either ensure that they get treatment or that they're put in a place where they can't hurt anyone. We need to deal with how we glamorize violence in this country--my kids play video games just like every other teenager in America--but maybe we need to look into what type of an impact it's had and rethink some things. We also need to have better control over the types of weapons easily available to the public, so sick kids can't easily grap a weapon that will fire hundreds of shots into a movie theater or a shopping mall within minutes, and mow down anyone in their path trying to stop them.

We have read much on here from those who are in favor of more gun control, but I haven't read many answers from 'pro-gun' supporters.
Require everyone to be in a "death squad" or "mutually assured destruction group". The way this works is everyone must find 9 or more individuals to agree that if any one of the members commits a heinous crime, all are to be killed. Anyone not able to locate the minimum required number of individuals who would place their lives in his/her hands would be locked up because they are obviously wacko.

You are all welcome for this foolproof solution. Now who wants to be on my team??
