This little tidbit got me to thinking. How can paranoid delusional people demand that others pay for their stupidity? The subject is SMART METERS. They are simple devices. The electric company puts them on your house and they can remotely read them. They provide a little more info such as when you use the most power which might allow the electric company to one day set a higher peak rate and a lower off peak rate to encourage less power consumption during peak hours (usually evenings between 4 and 10 I would think). But a few people think the meters will spy on them, listen in on their house or give their first born cancer. So they demanded they not be required to have them. OK says the utility. You can keep your old meter. But it will cost you $85 to come out and install it and $9.00 a month to come out and manually read it. Fair enough you would think but these paranoid people don't want to pay anything. They want the rest of the customers to shoulder the cost of their delusions. I would say hell no!
