I don't really know the point of this post. You are obviously anti-gun. But the reality is that it committed by a criminal already on the run from the state of Arkansas, who just so happened to buy a gun, most likely off the streets illegally, and targeted the police officers.
Its highly doubtful that the man was open-carrying the gun, but rather had it concealed on his person. The cops didn't see what was coming.
The question is, what could have saved them? The real answer is, nothing.
If you think criminals don't have guns in countries where guns are banned, I have a bridge to sell you.
Totally off thread, but I wonder what his reason was for killing the officers? Had they acted as if they suspected him in some way, or did he just decide to kill some people in uniform?

It says that they were basically sitting in the coffee shop on laptops doing work. Never saw what was coming. He killed two of them before anyone could even respond. Then killed the other two. Probably popped the first two in the back of the head.
The OP's intention for posting this, is to mock people who argue that if people were allowed to carry guns, that they could stop these kinds of crimes from happening. But, I don't really see the point, because the argument really can't be made one way or the other. And it isn't as if the man was using an assault rifle. He was using a handgun, most likely with a relatively small clip.
The truth is, the only person that could have saved the cops, would have been the woman behind the counter. She saw the man pull a gun before he started shooting. Had there been a gun behind the counter, she was the only person who could have stopped the man from killing the cops.
