It's not an "or" situation.

Yes, keep them locked up and medicated and arm the people who can stop one that slips through the cracks.

I say let retired officers come out of retirement to work as guards. Most can't because their pensions won't let them. And yes I imagine that some would be willing to work for $9 dollars per hour during school hours.

"Man Attempts To Open Fire On Crowd At Movie Theater, Off-Duty Sheriff's Deputy Drops Him With One Bullet."

You're right, if a police officer had been at the school it might have ended differently, might have.

But then you make the great leap in logic by assuming that the presence of a gun in a teachers hand is equal to a gun in someone who trains with a firearm throughout the year and has to periodically qualify their proficiency.

Now if you want to pay for a cop to be in every school, or to pay for teachers to train and qualify with there weapons (like they've got time for that as opposed to qualifying to teach) be my guest.

As for the media, cop shoots bad guy is the equivalent of a dog bites man story.

I can't believe how stupid the person is who thought this argument up. Essentially it's asking for a "mini-arms race" within the one place in society that should be safe... an elementary school. So what happens when a teacher loses it with her students and uses it to kill off kids? What happens if a kid gets ahold of it and decides he's done getting bullied? Then you'll say "well, we should have armed little 6 year olds so that the teacher wouldn't have 10 uninterrupted minutes to shoot kids."

Don't you see how utterly retarded that is?

Yes, but if you calm down for a few minutes you'll be able to think more clearly.

Yep, I'm sick and tired of hearing about their feelings, lock them up.
