How is it that the media doesn't suggest Universal Military Training first. That's part of the Second Amendment isn't it? I grew up as a cheerleader in Eastern High School cheering ROTC events. Now we have AF ROTC. Members of ROTC were also athletes and top scholars and cheerleaders. Why not more support for the Civil Air Patrol. I don't get it. What kind of brains do the 4 million members of NRA have. Do they smoke non-tobacco products? Do they smuggle drugs. Do spouses know which member of their own family unit have guns?
My "ex had a gun and was on a mental disability pension and I wasn't told. Luckily I found out. His psychiatrist planned a sting operation with his patient, my husband, against me. My 'ex only took lithium one week before each monthly visit so that he could test to keep his mental disability pension. Luckily, in Maryland, he had to keep his gun in a lock box. He passed #1 in the bar in the State of Maryland.
Hope this helps some other spouses including wives, husbands, lesbians and gays. There's no different once you are married. Children can do drugs and run away to their friends home and tell the police their parents abuse them. Do they have guns in the house they run to? Do they do drugs there?
Universal Military Training seems a cheap option for educating and socializing in the USA. A well educated USA standing militia. Socrates/Plato divided genetics into soldiers, workers, leaders. Each USA child IS a soldier, leader, worker.
I'm a day person and can home study better during the day so I chose night classes at college 1946-50. It turned out the professors preferred the student body classes at night. That's because they were mainly veterans returning from war. So I was spared the stupid teeny-bopper student body that exists in college today.
Personally I would LOVE to go through Army Basic Training without a military commitment. I've been through hours and hours of LEO training and know from experience that well-trained gun owners are better gun owners.
Been to the range many times, sometimes police and military people there also. A few times I have seen civilians handle firearms more proficiently than them. A badge or uniform doesn't make them a expert.
The thing is anti gunners do everything they can to discourage practice and gun useage. They want to ban or tax ammo so less people can shoot. They want to license guns so less people can afford a gun.
