1) The WBC does not engage in any charity comparable in scope to their public image. They are only known for hate.
2) The WBC is not inclusive of its surrounding community, restricting membership. It is regarded by some as a tax shelter for its family's law operations.
3) The WBC uses invective speech under its name, actively denigrating classes of people - soldiers, homosexuals, and others
Thanks for the links, signed up and signed the petition. Their religion is nothing more than a tax shelter for s batsh!# crazy family. Hopefully the IRS can take them down the same way they got Al Capone.
What is their charity? Enabling mentally retarded, socially miserable sign-holders that claim their beloved jesus & his daddy hate people? Waving those signs at military funerals?
What a gravy train... audit their books first...
Meanwhile, check out this glamourous hit, God Hates the World (music video) . When will the Grammy's recognize such artistic beauty?
They are immensely despicable people and if there is a hell I'm sure Satan has a nice area reserved just for them.
That said...do you really want to start getting the politicians involved in determining who has 501c3 tax exempt status?
Planned Parenthood has 501c3 tax exempt status, how happy are you libs going to be when the political pendulum swings back to the right and politicians looking to make a name for themselves go after Planned Parenthood?
Realistically, who has killed more people, Planned Parenthood or the Westboro Church? It's a slippery slope once you ask our politicos to start yanking exemptions.
This isn't going to be a popular sentiment, but I don't think you should shut down a groups ability to speak out just because you don't like what they say. They're vile, disgusting people who defile the whole intent of Christianity, but I'm not very comfortable with the government deciding which group has the right to speak out, and which doesn't. As far as losing their 501(c)3 status--the restriction is that they can't endorse or support political candidates, and they have limited lobbying ability. As far as I can see, they haven't violated those restrictions.
If you really truly want to maintain freedom, then freedom of speech is the core of that.
