The OP commented it was the GOP pushing this but if you read the article Obama is on board and the Dems are not adamantly opposed either.

Sounds like this is BIPARTISAN. Both parties are going to screw us.

From the OP link:
Obama and Boehner have both embraced a change to the way the government measures inflation, which would reduce spending on Social Security and other programs by giving beneficiaries smaller cost-of-living adjustments.
..
Democrats in Congress are not enthusiastic about the policy, but they have not ruled out voting for a broader budget deal that includes it.

You might want to try reading the link or the SS Admin's own website and learn just how off base you are.

It would be nowhere near "running out of money" if we did nothing.

The ONLY faction in Congress will stand up against this are liberal Democrats. Obviously, not Obama as my thread title clearly admits.

Once again, liberal democrats are the only faction standing up for the middle class....and you spend your entire time on these boards smearing people that are standing up for your family's livelihood.

Why shouldn't there be a tax cap?

It's only typical you would think that is a better alternative to just lifting the SS tax cap.

You can't even get it together to vote in your own self interest....LOL
Ryan's plan was at least a plan to start with. Obama offered nothing.
You don't know who I voted for do you yet you ASSume.

You lefties are so full of blind emotion it isn't funny.

The voters put Santa in office. Now they find it it's really Scrooge and they're upset.
Cry me a river.

I voted 3rd party; I'm no fool to believe any of the propaganda coming out of D or R mouths.
Twice we pushed off Ron Paul who would have at least tried to do the right thing.

HA..I don't believe that for a second.

Their backs are up against the wall and the US is broke and going deeper into debt.
It's call AUSTERITY and you thought it would never come here.

We warned you but you didn't listen.

I don't hope to convince you.

You worship the rich. I just want all the facts put out there. And we can vote on it.

Your side that butt kisses the rich would lose in a landslide.

I believe it is YOU that is off base. Firstly, I don't trust their "own" website. If they can't manage the money, why would I believe their projections.

The CBO begs to differ with their views on solvency, by the way.

He has offered something! Can you not read? He's offering to cut benefits by 7% using the chained CPI method. And you want your SS cuts by 20% using the Ryan plan?.....LOL

Yep. Do you recall me saying that Obama winning re-election was probably the best thing that could happen for the Republicans?

His track-record is of caving to the republicans.

It's also easier to pass stuff that hurts traditionally democratic niches (like unions) when the pres. is Democrat since it fractures opposition. NAFTA was a classic example.

I see the republicans getting lopsided trades from Obama for the next 4 years and all the loyalists rationalizing it as ok while the rwnj's complain about everything he does.
