Now this I like to see. This is a feel good story. The U.S. Marine who did two tours of duty took it upon himself to go down to the local elementary school to give them the satisfaction of feeling safe and secure. This could be a trend setter. Marine Sgt. Craig Pusley said:
'he wanted to make the kids feel safe in light of what happened at Sandy Hook Elementary,'
'When I enlisted, I swore to defend this country from all enemies, foreign and domestic,' Sgt. Pusley said.
'I just want to be sure all these kids go home safe for Christmas.'
We should ALL appreciate this Marine for his service to his country and I hope more servicemen across the country follow his footsteps by volunteering to stand guard outside their local grade schools.
Nice of the sergeant to take time out of his busy day to stand out there.
Now, if he anticipates a shooter showing up, perhaps he should go to his local Target at pick up a bullseye, because a clearly unarmed Marine will get the first bullet.
If the purpose is to make people feel good, might I propose a clown costume?
I congratulate him on his honorable intentions, but an unarmed person standing there is not going to stop a person with a weapon from doing what they set out to do. He is just making himself a target.

Honorable intentions, but you are correct, not very practical.
Nice to see someone taking a stand for the kids and his community. His concern for those kids is obvious and should be acknowledged.
Question for the OP. If a combat veteran stood in front of the school and held up a sign that said "No More School Shootings" or "Ban Assault Rifles" would he be patriotic?
I think the guy has good intentions, and will leave it at that.
However, having ex-marines show up to schools with guns like some of you are suggesting..I'll pass, thanks. You guys realize that ex-military are sometimes prone to going wacko and shooting people, right? I think I might want these guys being mentally evaluated before they show up at my kids school with a gun.
According to the article, he's also in big big trouble (a possible $10K fine and an investigation) for wearing his fatigues vs. his dress uniform in public. Hopefully the Marine Corp will back down on that one...
