Grover Norquist has Uncle Sam's scrotes in a vice. If you can't win an election, bring down the nation.

Boehner called a meeting of his caucus when he couldn't whip the votes and threatened to pull the committee assignments of members who defected on the vote.

I like Boehner, but he's a terrible speaker. This proposal is dead on arrival in the Senate, so it's purpose is 100% political; to say 'we passed a solution, they didn't take it!'. If you're going to make that move this late in such a high stakes process, you better at least have your votes whipped. He knows this isn't the bill that gets signed by the President. Now we're delayed another day while he fumbles a bill that moves us further from a compromise.

If it achieve nothing else... getting rid of Boehner (and Cantor and McConnel too) make it worthwhile.

There's definitely civil strife in the party. Both Boehner and especially Cantor were boasting that this measure would pass.

Job well done!
How so? If they don't reach a deal taxes go up on everyone. Obama has already stated that he isn't signing any deal unless the wealthy pay more taxes. So you can have it the easy way and just raise taxes on the top 2% or the hard way and everyone pays more, Repubs take your pick.

More than a day. They adjourned for the holiday and went home.

Like I said, its 0boy's deal. Period. If your taxes go up, you have nobody but 0bama to blame. Period.

Boy. How old are you, anyway?

"It's fourth and long, Team GOP is down by 8 points, on their own 40 yard line, and 42 seconds left in the 4th quarter. Coach Boehner sends in the field goal squad. Democrats smell the fake and set up the rush. The snap is bad and the holder fumbles the ball. Democrats swarm and recover and run it back to the 3 yard line.

First and Goal, Democrats."
