You're right. Guns aren't going anywhere, but the right to legally own one may become extinct. We already seen this in DC, CA, and IL. It was the groups like the NRA that helped get the citizens of Washington DC (District of Columbia v. Heller) their right to own a functional firearm back after the de facto gun ban there. It's groups like the NRA who are fighting back laws that amount to de facto gun bans all around the country.

Many people don't know that it was Ted Cruz that wrote the briefs to win the Heller decision.

Other countries have National Rifle Associations (NRA) indeed the British NRA which was founded in 1859 predates the American NRA which was founded in 1871.

National Rifle Association of the United Kingdom - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

National Rifle Association - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The difference being that the British NRA is far less fanatical and discusses issues on a more rational level.

UK gun owners - Telegraph

Then move to the UK, if you want to be gun free.

I live in the UK and guns are not banned here - hunting, shooting and other such pastimes are very popular. As is target shooting and clay pigeon shooting.

There ya go.

You have no clue what the most unique nation ever to be on the face of the earth, is all about.
We The People, have weapons at our disposal, so we are not oppressed by those with the power to oppress. Unlike the UK, where oppression is bred, with so many rules and regulations, along with tax on top of tax on top of fee after fee, all going to feed the government beast.

There are no more rules and regulations in the UK than in the US and I agree America is exceptional and unique as no other nation accounts for nearly half of all global military spending and no other nation accounts for 25% or one in four of all people imprisoned in the world. You can talk about the land of the free all you want it's more like the land of the imprisoned, whilst the gulf between the wealthy and poor in the US is pitiful. As for taxes, the US has local, state and national taxes and Americans also have to pay a considerable amount for health insurance and other such taxes.

The NRA represents the worst in fanatical single issue ideologically extreme special interest groups. They thrive by promoting fear and paranoia. Every massacre of children increases gun sales for their donors. Today at conference, they were distracting public from talking about gun laws by blaming massacre on Hollywood, video games and instead talked about hiring more armed security guards on tax payer's money. An ideal business opportunity to boost more gun sales for their donors! The same right wing propagandizers discourage from talking about stricter gun control, funding mental health programs and ignore bullying that goes in schools and colleges that really do contribute to violence a lot more than movies.
You must not own a gun and been around them in your life. The NRS represents responsible gun ownership and the rights of the second Amendment.

When you try to stop gun ownership this empowers Criminals and Government to take things to extreme. Its a balance of sport and protecting your family.

By the way I buy to more boxes of bullets now you have mentioned it!

the VT, aurora, and ct shooting were ALL done by individuals who has BEEN SEEN BY PROFESSIONALS and were not mentaly stable

I agree, has the NRA taken a position on "better mental testing"?
