Have you ever felt that your boss has been giving you more grief then you deserve and you wanted to "teach him a lesson" permenantly? I know that I did when I was in the service, but did'nt. So I can see if someone elese wanted to and had the weapons at hand to do it would. Personally I believe that this was something that the military brought to his attention, since we all know that he has never served and would not even think that it could be a probelm.
I was serving before and during Clinton's tenure. His rationale for making bases a gun free zone was that he did not deem military bases to have a credible threat and therefore shouldn't have guns on base. Of course, after Ft Hood, there was a lot of criticism for this Clinton decision and rightly so.

And no, I have never wanted to teach my boss or anyoen a 'lesson permanently'. I personally think Clinton did this because he could as Commander in Chief and it segued into the Democrat view of gun control.

Maybe the Army was different than the Navy then, but outside of official reasons you really don't need to be carry around a loaded weapon. It was really a common sense order...

If only MP are allowed to be armed on military bases then it is high time we overturn that stupid rule and let soldiers start to open carry if they want.

The NRA stance on arming everybody is provably FALSE. Fort Hood alone should be reason enough to stop the argument of arming teachers/faculty.
Don't lie about serious issues.

It was another "gun free zone".

ALL of these attacks happen in "gun free zones".

Ignore it if you will.

It has nothing to do with political correctness, it is a simple safety measure, and it has been that way for a very long time.

I agree, the Air Force did not have a probelm with it either. But the threat to supervisors was real nevertheless.
