So you're saying there WERE ARMED GUARDS ON DUTY AT A MILITARY BASE and 42 people STILL GOT SHOT!?

There were armed guards at the gates on a base that is almost 250 square miles!
Look at this another way, what would have happened if everyone one of the soldiers on that base were armed? The shooter would have gotten a couple of shots off and then been cut down.
Banning guns will not stop someone from going on a shooting rampage, but a armed and well trained individual can stop that person.
Apparently the gun grabbers can't understand English. The only people armed on a normal day would be the MPs which would be the equivalent of the Police in a City. So people get killed most of the time before the police arrive. Capeesh?
Interesting how un-protected our military bases must be to have only a couple people armed. Even they couldn't protect 42 people huh? Fascinating. But.. but... but... I thought guns protect people!
In 2009, Nidal Hasan attacks a military base which is armed to the teeth and is still able to shoot 42 well-trained, well-equipped military personnel... 13 of which died.
The NRA stance on arming everybody is provably FALSE. Fort Hood alone should be reason enough to stop the argument of arming teachers/faculty.
Locally we have some very small police departments, the one located in the same town the HS is at has a office right in the school. They are there in the morning, the afternoon and throughout the day conducting business. They certainly don't bring people they have arrested there but their presence at the school is a lot, if my understanding is correct they pay a small fee to the police department for this increased presence.
Most of the towns in my region have approximately 20 schools. Most would require, due to size, at least 6 cops, all day long, positioned at various access points. If we assume we can get them cheap, say $50k not much for a cop, add in $30k each for benefits, that is 120 cops * 80k = 9.6 MILLION dollars annually. Most likely an increased four figure tax bill for every house, with a 5 figure increase at every business in town, except for the employers with 200 plus employees, who would see a 6 figure tax increase.
PS, the 120 cops needed would triple our current PD force.
Good example! The cost of putting one armed officer on every campus in America would be astronomical. My classes already have 35-40 kids per class (last year 47). The cost of an officer (approx. $100K per year), would take two MORE teachers off of an average campus.
While we all want children to be safe, this plan is not cost-effective, and does not provide any guarantee of safety. Why not put an army on each campus? Cost has to be factored in. Get rid of assault weapons! No civilian has any need for them!
Yes they could ban these so called assault weapons, but its pretty much to late. These guns are flying off the shelves in record numbers and the government isn't going to knock on anyone's door taking them back.
Some type of security needs to be done in schools before it happens again, cause it will.
