Isn't it obvious? In case someone comes shooting! The same reason we need armed people in movie theatres, shopping malls, schools, churches, our work places, country roads, city streets in New York, a McDonald's restaurant...man, I've lost track. We just damn well all better be carrying heavy artillery everywhere we go, lest the vermin spawn of the NRA come looking for us.

My criminal law professor (a 30 year veteran of a nearby county police force) told us, "Never run from a fat cop. He's not gonna go through the effort of running after you."

One armed assistant principal HAS stopped it. So once again, as usual, the gun grabber is wrong.

Really?

On a military base?
Wow. I might get the impression that they are dangerous or something.

That is certainly not the case and the ignorance of some of you people about the military is astounding.Maybe that is why there is so much ignorance in the gun grabbers circle.

and there was also a cop at Columbine who even fired at Eric Harris:

Daily Kos: Columbine High School had an armed deputy

we probably shouldn't use a single sample to validate one side or the other.

How will they defend us against the zombies if they aren't carrying guns?
Oh, I know, every untrained civilian Tom, Dick or Harry who does carry will take care of it, right?

Right.
It all becomes clear.

Look Scotty. Let me explain the obvious to you: Americans COUNT on our brave military personnel to protect us from enemies, foreign and domestic. That's their #1 job. One simple thing to do is to make sure that every military base is a place that cannot be infiltrated by someone looking to kill soldiers. If a single man can enter the most secure places in our country and shoot up 42 people, then it's not secure and we as a nation are not protected as we should be. Fort Hood is an example of how even putting armed guards in charge of the security was a complete failure and 13 of those 42 people died because of it. Who was on MP duty at that place, Barney Fife? The fact that any terrorist or foreign enemy can take out that many American soldiers on their own turf says how impossible it is to protect people with guns. Seeing as all MPs are trained on how to use a weapon (unlike teachers) it would be absolutely asinine to expect teachers to perform security duties better than a trained MP, dotcha think?

DOES THIS MAKE SENSE NOW???

Cops have higher accidental shooting rates than untrained civilians...

According to the NY Times, 11 of the 13 who died were still alive when that flatfoot began firing. He missed four times.
