This thread is filled with the symptoms of Liberal mania.
NARTH is NOT a religious institution, nor is their therapy. It is based on REAL developmental psychology and has been accepted by European institutes as well as printed in respected journals...but detractors who cannot argue valid points directly can believe this...real therapy that is being banned is NOT the crazy church crap that people accuse it of....this silly 'pray away the gay' is something invented by the gay lobby to trap glbt people who want help. No mention of the radical bias from media on glbt issues though.
Comparing same sex attractions or gender disturbance to being attracted to other races is beyond stupid. The body is BIOLOGICALLY designed for the opposite sex and there ARE valid reasons why people develop same sex attractions, & there are real consequences. They have nothing to do with stupid religions.
Keep on denying all the harmful effects of a physically active gay lifestyle though.

No actually it hasn't. You are full of it. The only thing harmful here is your vile ignorance.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!
Who told you that? NARTH?
NARTH pretends to secular - yet all it's members are religious conservatives. They work with religious 'prey away the gay' groups like Love in Action (what a misnomer)
NARTH pretends to be a 'research' group - yet they have never done any science-based research and never published in any reputable academic Journals. They have constantly been caught misrepresenting other peoples studies - by the authors themselves.
Their 'theory' about homosexuality has long been disproven as baseless nonsense.
They are a joke to mainstream health professionals and are basically just a small religious anti-gay propaganda group. They are an embarrassment to the US worldwide.
Richard Cohen practices this so called 'reparative therapy' :

Guess who NARTH's 'clinical advisor' was for many years until recent scandals?
George 'rentboy' Rekers. A baptist minister who has been personally discredited because of being caught taking a 'rentboy' away with him on a Eurpoean holiday. He has also been prodfessionally discredited when it was discovered lasst year that his original thesis on 'sissy boys' was based on fraudulent data and unethical practices.

though he denied it let's assume Rekers had a whole roomful of rent boys and visited them once a week.. SO HOW exactly does that invalidate any of his peer-approved research of any of NARTH's work? It's just a PR fail. And you -like many crazed Libs-are employing weak ad hominem attacks. Though GLSEN peddles/advocates risky sex and occasionally S&M activities to youth (see their Little Black BOOk) I don't dismiss everything they say, like instances of bullying etc, and neither do psychologists. You're throwing petty whiny tantrums.
@Natalie: If you're being serious with that question then I suggest you do some extensive research into homosexuality and its effects before you make further attempts to discuss this issue. You can start with the CDC & their latest warnings of a dangerous rise in syphilis among gay men, not to mention gay men accounting for over half of new HIV infections despite being only 3% of the population. Then there's the higher rate/incidence of Kaposi's sarcoma, enteric diseases like Giardia lamblia, anal fissure etc. If you talk to RNs, med transcriptionists, surgeons, they'll tell you much more.
Note within this article how a man complains that insufficient info to gays lead to their bad health, yet no one mentions that after years of gay lobbies distributing advice to both schools and the public, their health remains in a poor condition. The American Journal of Public Health Highlights Risks of Homosexual Practices
You can find many more accounts and papers which discuss it, as well as pathetic denials by gay activists all over the Web, despite these risks clearly being documented in many medical and nurses' reference books, not to mention in hospitals across the world.

NARTH has no 'peered approved' research. Where did you get the idea that they did? By the way, it's 'peer reviewed' not 'approved'.
Go ahead and try to find a peer-reviewed study published by NARTH. You won't be able to find one.
George 'Rentboy' Rekers proves that NARTH's so-called 'reparative therapy' does not even work for themselves. The fact that his 'professional' work has also been based in fraud and unethical behavior says a lot about NARTH's credibility - or lack of.
No-one except uninformed bigoted religious conservatives take NARTH seriously.
How about you read up what a well respected Christian psychologist who knows NARTH well has to say about them?
Or maybe they simply have a different opinion than the leftist thought police.
Facts and evidence don't seem to matter to the brainwashed 'rightist' religious zealots.
