Every person who wants to see guns banned would donate $1,000 to buy back one semi automatic handgun or semi automatic assault rifle. Anyone turning in one would get the $1,000 for one legally owned firearm and would sign an agreement not to purchase another firearm. This is where the funds would come from, no taxes would be used. Anyone could donate as much as they wish up to millions of dollars.
I can't see anybody who isn't pro gun banning not jumping at this chance to help get guns out of houses and to prove they'd be willing to get involved personally.

They would need a hell of a lot more than 1000 per rifle to buy several of mine.

We don't want people stealing guns so they can get money. That is what happens with gun buy backs. Just leave it alone, please!

Because a lot of guns cost more than $1000.
Btw, all you people who are so impressed with the concept of 'semi auto' need to realize there are really good marksmen who can get a lot of shots off in a minute with a bolt action.

I groan in pain every time they show the guns taken in at one of those pay for gun deals. So many valuable guns destined to be destroyed. The governemt could make a ton of cash reselling some of those guns. Doubt if all of them make it to destruction. The program could be self perpetuating rather than a cost the taxpayers.
