Everything’s free as long as somebody else pays for it right? Barry hasn’t had a budget in four years so he isn’t interested in making a deal he needs rates to go up to appease his low information base. If anyone thinks the government taking in 80-85 billion next year will do any good you’re an idiot and shouldn’t get anywhere near a voting booth.

I agree and your statement is noble. The problem is idiots vote because that's what
stupid people do. When the milk runs out of the nipple - crap will hit the fan.

I see the tin foil hat crowd is up early and already frothing. How quaint.

Quote:
When a possible deal fell apart Monday — after Boehner moved toward accepting a rate increase on some higher earners, and Obama indicated a willingness to deal on Social Security — Boehner moved to his “Plan B,” which he ultimately pulled after it became clear his GOP caucus would not support it.
Boehner and the tea party extremists are the one's who aren't dealing, and are moving the goal posts.

Why would President Obama deal on something that was constructed by republican extremists who were sure than mittens was the anointed one? He gets the tax rate repeal already if nothing gets done. He gets Republican's on the hook. He gets the opportunity and credit for swooping back in afterwards and saving everyone's bacon WITH WHAT HE WANTS, not a negotiated detente. And it will pass after 2 Jan simply b/c the markets and everyone else will be freaking out royally and forcing the Republican's to accept and pass what President Obama wants.

Yet...he still attempted to negotiate. Giving in to chained CPI. Giving in to raising to $400k the tax rate repeal (although personally I think it should be $500k). Giving in to changes in SSI. Cutting spending.

And Republican's overplayed their hand. And got called on their bluff. Now they have nothing to do but hang on their own petard. Their fate and destiny is sealed.

But don't fret...President Obama will come back and allow Boehner to save some face and agree to the deal had before his failed $1MM tax rate fiasco. Even though he shouldn't.

Meanwhile, the congress excuses themselves for the Christmas holiday.
What were you attempting to point out?

Congress Recesses Until After Christmas | alaskapublic.org

(CNN) - President Barack Obama spoke Friday about the fiscal cliff with House Speaker John Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid before the three men - and the rest of Congress - left town for a long weekend. They'll return after Christmas to pick up where they left off.

The republican house should pass everything obama wants but add a provision that if obama doesnt get a balanced budget passed by both houses by 2014 rates go back to what they are now. Watch how fast obama turns it down! He doesnt want a deal. He wants full control of the debt ceiling with no oversite and no budget! Call his bluff that he wants a deal. Give him his deal and watch what happens!

Boehner needs to throw in the towel and just go with what the Dems want.
He cannot get consensus in his own party here.

It's not like Boehner is going to prevent any new taxes next year because there's a bunch kicking in that have nothing to do with the fiscal cliff.

The new credit card collection fees (for all but 10 states), obamacare taxes, expiration of AMT patch, expiration of education credit, expiration of deducting sales tax, etc. all hit next year and are not part of the fiscal cliff issue.
