There isn't any demonstrable need for the government to know who has what guns and where they live. Registration is a joke, plain and simple. There is no data showing registration leads to lower gun crime rates, nor does it prevent any form of gun crime.

There is only one reason why the feds want firearm registration: So they know where to begin looking in the eventuality more unconstitutional laws get passed and confiscations actually do occur.

hehe, they know of none of mine except one, and that was because they illegally ran its serial on a traffic stop.

Whether nefarious or benevolent, there is still no need for the government to know who owns guns.

On a side note, the U.S. government meets every possible definition of nefarious
