Dems and Republicans keep staging these huge "battles" over a few pennies in tax increases. But we don't have a taxing problem. We are taxed plenty enough.

We have a spending problem. The govt spends incredibly huge amounts, and makes promises that amount to even more.

Yet I haven't seen a single proposal to spend less next year than we did this year. Every proposal I've seen, says we will spend even more than we did before, in every government department. Some say that instead of increasing 15% like we had planned to, we'll "only" increase 10% instead. (Some of the sillier politicians and newscasters, on both sides, refer to this as a "cut". That's like saying that instead of chopping off three of your fingers as I had planned to do, I'll only chop off two of them. There, I've increased your number of fingers by one!)

Is there ANY politician, in any party, proposing to actually CUT spending? It's what we desperately need.

No party ever proposes real spending cuts because no constitiuency wants any cuts. At some point we have to look at ourselves and stop blaming elected officials. Dems want no cuts but will at least agree to tax increases. Pubs want no cuts, no tax increases and want to hold the debt limit hostage and refuse to pay for stuff they (congress) already bought.

In other words, government spending DIDN't go down. It was just transferred from one govt program to another, and spent anyway.

Anybody else?

If America REALLY wanted spending cuts then they would have voted for Dr. Ron Paul.

You reap what you sow.

End of story.

Lots of liberals want to cut defense spending and have proposed as much. But they just want to transfer it so they can spend it on other programs. Not a true cut.

Santa was going to bring Jonny a fire truck and a BB gun. Jonny was excited. But the elves were getting tired and there were simply too many kids.

Santa and Mrs Clause were having a cup of coffee and Mrs Clause suggested that if he put a few more kids on his naughty list he wouldn't have to work so hard. Santa thought about it, but he was worried because he'd already promised Johnny a truck and.a BB gun.

Mrs Clause suggested that he work the elves overtime this year and start the naughty list next year. Santa thought about it and decided he could do it. All year he added more and more kids to his naughty list. The elves were happy. But the kids got wind of things and things went south. He cranked up production mid year.

The head elf asked was going on. He saw that Jonny was getting another fire truck and another BB gun. Santa explained that he had actually planned to give him a truck, a BB gun, and a GI Joe, so it was technically a cut. He could take the extra GI Joe and give it to little Joe. The elf pointed out that Jonny hadn't asked for a GI Joe and Joe was on the naughty list anyway. Santa reminded him who was in charge and threatened to outsource toy production to China.

The elf scratched his head in disbelief and decided that Santa was as crazy as his old uncle down in the states, his Uncle Sam.
