They are to the obamas. The tax payers will be paying for their protection the rest of their lives. Just like all the children of past, present & future presidents.
Exactly. There was a real good clue to this fact, even before it was confirmed by the school itself, in the SCHOOL'S NAME-- "Sidwell Friends." It's a Quaker-sponsored school, for pity's sake. They don't believe in bearing arms for any reason. But then again, they follow the literal words of that rabble-rouser Jesus Christ.

Actually, that's incorrect. Secret Service laws were changed after Clinton. Clinton and his family are the last US Presidential family who will receive lifetime protection. Anyone after him will get 10 years of protection following their time in office, and then Secret Service stops protecting them.

How long do former presidents receive Secret Service protection after they leave office?
In 1965, Congress authorized the Secret Service (Public Law 89-186) to protect a former president and his/her spouse during their lifetime, unless they decline protection. In 1997, Congress enacted legislation (Public Law 103-329) that limits Secret Service protection for former presidents to 10 years after leaving office. Under this new law, individuals who are in office before January 1, 1997, will continue to receive Secret Service protection for their lifetime. Individuals elected to office after that time will receive protection for 10 years after leaving office. Therefore, President Clinton will be the last president to receive lifetime protection.
So, let me get this straight...now the outrage is over Sasha and Malia getting Secret Service protection?
