Hundreds of residents in New York's Westchester and Rockland counties were surprised to find their names and addresses listed on a map posted by The Journal News on Sunday. Users can click any dot on the map to see which of their neighbors has a permit for a gun.

Are gun owners ashamed of owning guns? Wouldn't this list deter criminals from targeting those residences? Is this public record? Just asking.

And they said gun registration would never be used to single out gun owners

Yes they did, many, many times. They also say "No one wants to take your guns".

Is there a possibility they might be lying this time too?

Hey! At least they have a list of people not to car pool children with. And for the criminals, a list of sources of addition free weapons.

There are many things that are technically "public info" but only recently has that kind of info been exploided to various reasons. Blame it on technology, without which it wouldn't be nearly as easy.

Leave it to the lunatic fringe to think 'shame' has to do with it.

That's like saying it's ok to publish social security numbers. Nothing to be ashamed of...right?

Dummies!
