Sorry, but I don't see many liberals wanting to give a law breaker a free pass. I say lock up every murder, rapist and child molester until they die a horrible death in jail
Many liberals think that illegal immigrants should be given a pass on their violation of our immigration laws (and that is only the beginning of their lawbreaking) and in fact be rewarded with amnesty for breaking them.
As you conservatives like to say it's because of "God's will" of course! There are levels of rape and if a woman partially wants to be raped and become pregnant, it's part of God's will and the rapist is just one of his tools.
I am a conservative and I think God gives us the free will to make our own decisions and make our own mistakes. You are speaking of the far extreme religious kooks so stop with the stereotyping of all conservatives.
I agree, personal responsibility is a fairly universal value, not just the value of America's yesterday. The question remains, though, why has America seemed to turn away from that concept, and how did it happen?
Why do liberals blame society and want to punish everyone and give the lawbreaker a free pass? Why do liberals hold society to a higher standard than individual lawbreakers, who they are quick to let out of incarceration prematurely via liberal judges?
Because they gain POWER and CONTROL by doing so. It is what and who they are.

It is impossible to not stereotype when conservatism has its best friend in religiosity for politics. The disowning won't happen.

That's not just an American precept, nor are braindead Liberals the only ones to blame. People in general just don't want to take responsibility for their actions, or acknowledge that self control and discretion are required. They want to do as they please, use all sorts of illogical excuses to justify their actions and expect the govt or others to take care of them.
And this applies to religious nuts as well. They'll never admit their ideologies are failures..they don't work and cause more trouble than good but insist on hiding their history and manipulating current events to their agenda. And they're worse than Libs in the sense that they have tons of history to note their failure, not to mention today's escalations. Nearly all of them will die with their current stupid mindset, believing they're righteous beings.
As for Libs...they think everything can be fixed by doing nearly the opposite of what conservatives do. All failures are blamed on society and can be magically healed by the govt doling out their apparently neverending supply of money for "programs" and free stuff to people who don't really need it and will most likely abuse it.
If the system does not change then people in general won't have an incentive to be responsible.
