Bill Clinton backed this very idea......what's wrong lefties....why not now?
Cops in schools anyway....
I support having a cop in a school because that is what they are trained to do. Bill Clinton approved an assault weapons ban, what is wrong with you righties....why not now?
Clearly you have never taught. If a teacher is teaching, then they are in an room within the school, what if they are at the back of the school when something happens. By the time they realize it, get over their panic, and move towards the front of the school like a trained officer the damage would already be done.
Every attack will be not be the same as schools layouts are different. A cool head will prevail in these situations. There is no room for panic. As I said, these teachers are volunteers doing this. Apparently they feel the safety of the students should come first and they could care less about the extra pay to carry a concealed weapon.
Currently the article states 200 or more teachers in Utah. I am sure that number will rise.
How many teachers are there in Utah? Also, I do agree, this should be a States issue, if a State wants to arm their teachers and turn them into guards, that is cool too....though Utah should probably spend more time worrying about how to improve their education levels which is already poor.

Actually the education of a child should come first. Well good for Utah.....remind me again, when was their last school shooting?

Also, if a teacher is also a trained guard, they should be paid more for putting themselves at the top of the list of being in harms way. Who is going to pay for that? Also, how many teachers is this free program going to even train?
SHHHH! not allowed to ask the PRICE of teacher's raises or who pays for the guns or the teacher's training time or all those pesky little things that gun lover's want to skim over.....
When THEY want to raise taxes for their pet projects (arming teachers /on topic) it's OK....

It is because they think those pet projects are all "free."
Utah ranks 41 out of 50 for education, maybe they should be training their teachers to teach better.
That depends on what you measure. Tax dollars spent then yes. How about AP credit per student? try 5 or 6 in the nation. Money spent per tax payer. try the top.
