America is one screwed up place. A populace too lazy to even get out the damn car to look whats behind them. These cameras wont save anyone, theyre covered by condensation half the time.
There use to be this old saying sh** happens and this story falls into that category, but today when sh** happens people look to the gvt for more regulation.
America is moving closer and closer to a failed society. The undesirable way of life has now become the norm. We are a nation of sissies who can't think or do for ourselves anymore. We sue for every reason under the sun in hopes of getting rich and turn to government to legislate the morality that we let go ourselves. What a pathetic nation we have become.
Rea-ward visibility in the modern automobile IS a problem. You may not know what is back there at a shopping mall etc. It encompasses most sizes of vehicles except the very small. Which is why our friend from England may not get the point....being that there are more econoboxes there than here, where behemoths rule the road. Why not also get rid of seat belts, anti-lock brakes, safety glass, electronic stability control, etc. etc. all government mandated features. No, my friends, foot dragging by this bunch in power will not be so easily dismissed.
I have reverse warning in my dually and it never fails. A camera is just one more thing to fail. While you're glued to what is going on behind you, at some point you'll clip something in the front.
Let's face it... anyone who relies on an auto-park, needs to learn how to manually park.
It's the same thing as having peanut butter and jam in the same jar.
What you are doing is pushing up the costs of economy cars. Another burden on the lower paid workers just because a few people are stupid. It might even end up costing lives as people drive less safe cars as they put off buying a new one.
I suggest ya make sure your kid is in the car before backing up.
If people backed into all parking spaces most backing up accidents wouldn't happen.
You can't legislate stupidity.
