Truthfully, i think this is just a ruse, and they're using the Israeli lobby as an excuse because they're seen as untouchable and unimpeachable. If you offer even the slightest of criticisms, you hate all Jews.

The whole damn defense establishment, and hence, the lion's share of the Republican Establishment, doesn't like Hagel. It's well known that he's wanted to put a big ass knife to DOD for a while, and some of the ideas of what he thinks reform constitutes is HIGHLY unpopular in Defense circles.

Moreover, Republicans hate when Democrats put Republicans in charge of the Pentagon for obvious reasons. And a veteran with the war record of Chuck Hagel can't be called a dove, nor can his own military record be assailed. He gives the Obama administration too much cover for Republicans to be comfortable with. If you thought Obama keeping Gates on the job gave the Republicans fits, Hagel would be even worse.

Israel needs to realize IT is the Pariah state, it is the one that breaks UN resolutions with inpunity, it is the one that invades others lands, it is the one that poisons soveriegn democracies through AIPAC and others, it is the one that commits atrocities and allows its citizenry to, it is the one that aggressively makes threats to its neighbours.
Would rep you but must spread it around first. Got to admire the Russians for banning NGOs..no more interference from American lobbyists. If a nation allows foreign influence, whether in the form of orgs or hordes of radical religious nuts...it is screwed. AIPAC has been slowly poisoning American politics for years now. Ron Paul could've changed that, but he had no chance. SO America has to keep bending over and taking it from Israel. What's that quote from Sharon? Something about the Americans knowing that Israel controls them. SO much for 4th of July, patriotism and all that.

They've got the Europeans by the gonads too, but at least they're making an effort to fight back. America's crazy evangelists and Liberal looneybin prefer to go down fighting each other.

Yes. AIPACs true colours were shown when according to them, Ron Pauls pledge to cut ALL foreign aid was attacked as anti-Israel.

I like your Eagle too. Even hollywood's Matt Damon has realized this.

I guess both parties practice it to an extent, but there was nothing more cringeworthy than sycophant celebrities lining up at Obama's fundraisers. I generally find this dumbing down and culture of celebrity worship deeply disturbing. Its almost like celebrity idolatry is the religion of our age.

I've been a big believer for a long time that this nominating process has gotten out of hand. Presidents should be able to nominate anyone they want to cabinet positions so long as that person isn't a criminal. There is far too much politicization of the process. This is just like the Dems wanting to stop Bush from nominating John Bolton for UN Secretary. Why? Because he's an assh*le? So what? That'll just make Bush look like a fool for nominating him. Let presidents have their nominees for crying out loud.

He talked about a "Jewish lobby". That is pretty bad. He's an anti-semite.

Are you suggesting the AIPAC et al spend as much time lobbying for the rights of tibet-en monks?

So you can't put the words "Jewish" and "Lobby" together without being an anti-semite? "That is pretty bad?"

So ferocious has been the assault that it has led MJ Rosenberg, a one-time Israel lobbyist who has emerged as a staunch critic, to observe:

Never before has virtually the entire organised Jewish community combined to stop a presidential cabinet appointment because it deems the potential nominee insufficiently devoted to Israel.
Sounds about right.

He used the term "Jewish Lobby". I gurantee you if a Republican potus had nominated someone who said that it would create a stir. If he isn't bright enough or tactful enough to not say something so offensive perhaps he isn't suited for a position like that.

Really? Not bright enough? Let's see.....

He's a decorated combat vet, a former senator, former CEO, a millionaire, sits on several corporate boards, etc..

Ok, let's get to you: not a decorated combat vet, not a former senator, not a former CEO (nor a present one), not a millionaire, and you sit on no corporate boards.

In other words, you sound ridiculous talking about what he's suited to doing when your record pales in comparison to his.
