If you were born after 1960, the age is now 67 for benefits. If you were born between 1955 and 1959, the age is on a sliding scale from 65 and 1 month to 66 and 11 months. People seem to either forget that fact of they don't know it in which case they are going to get a rude wake up when they turn 65.
Wait, so if you are born in 1960 the age is 67?
Once again, I paid into it but get screwed when it's time to give it back.
I think the Republicans have the best plan: screw up Medicare so that people won't live long enough to collect much SS. That kills two birds with one stone.
As for the so-called fiscal cliff, the media never brings up the fact that it will trigger tax increase and spending cuts that are needed to help alleviate the debt problem. Instead, Congress will just keep spending, let the wealthiest Americans keep a majority of their tax cuts, and raise the debt ceiling. The fiscal cliff isn't the worst case scenario, creating more debt is the worst case scenario.
lol, no, democrats have it planed. Obamacare death panels. Also when you can't return to hospital before 30 days are up. Many people will die because of that law alone.
People at $200K work for their money unlike welfare, make kids like rabbits welfare slugs. Just think how much money we can save if we put those people to work instead of paying them to sit home and make more kids for taxpayers to support.
Burger flippers spending half their income on shelter should save a minimum of 10% for THEIR future. Great concept, but is it FEASIBLE ? (Hint: homeowners on average spend about 20% of their income on housing and they're certainly not saving anywhere near 10% for their future.)
How about if we reduce the excessive regulation and taxation of rental property, thereby reducing the COST of housing, and thereby make it feasible for burger flippers to save for their future?
I don't want more Social Security - how about giving me back the THOUSANDS of dollars I have paid in excessive unfair property taxes? Property taxes on my home are $1,500/yr more than on the house next door because mine is a rental and the house next door is owner-occupied.
The local property taxes will go higher because Obama wants the money before it hits the local and state. The local will have to make up for it somewhere and it will be higher property taxes.
Anyone who rents.. your rent will go up because that's what you voted for.

What sorts of work are they capable of doing now? What happens when non-recipients find their low wages being undermined by welfare recipients? Will welfare recipients get special programs to help them leapfrog over the working poor? Unions won't let welfare recipients take "their" jobs so the working poor will be the ones screwed.
There are only so many crappy low-wage jobs to go around, it will be like musical chairs.

Don't blame me, I didn't vote for it.
But for those who believe landlords charge what the market will bear...why would my rent go up if my landlord is already charging what the market will bear?

Rents go up based on how many of a particular unit they have occupied. If we have 100 1 bedrooms and 99 of them are full then it's safe to say we can raise the rent on those units by 3 - 5%.
Some properties use software that figures all that up for them and can literally change the cost of rent $100+ from one day to the next if a particular unit is in high demand. If you wish to look that software up it's called YieldStar.
I don't see it this way at all. You have two opportunities in the market a chance to sell or a chance to buy. This could be a great chance to buy. I am waiting with my wallet open.

As a renter you do NOT pay property tax. Your landlord pays property tax. You may pay more in rent to cover the tax. And property tax is in no way associated with Social Security and Medicare. Property taxes are local and pay for schools, police, fire protection, library districts, etc. It's only fair that you pay some of these costs anyway. Or are those services that others should pay on your behalf as well?

Welcome to my world.
While so many youngster's are quick to point out how "old" and unproductive so many of us Boomer's are, what they fail to realize is that Boomer years don't officially end till those born in 1964 retire. Some Boomer's are still in their 40's!!! If someone 48/49 years old is considered old and unproductive some of those complaining about us are closer to becoming old and unproductive than I am to being retired....

If you don't work and pay FICA you don't get SS. You pay property tax if you rent indirectly. Just because you don't pay it directly to the gov. does not mean you don't pay for it. You do. If that is the case that you don't then you don't fund drug gangs because your dealer is not in the gang. LOL thats just stupid reasoning.
