This means nothing. People lie, then you have all kinds of illegal guns in the hood, which still count as "household" guns. The fact is that handguns are popular items for many people in terms of defense. Had local and state governments not failed at keeping criminals off the streets, I don't think I would hear as much discussion about home protection firearms. I don't think many of my friends and family would own a household gun(s) that do now. However, our governments have flat out failed us on the criminal justice side of things. The priority of the criminal justice system shouldn't be rehabilitation, it should be about housing dangerous people to keep law-abiding people safe. There are numerous reasons why the entire system is a joke. If people want the majority to support draconian gun control, all they need to do is fix the repeat offender problem by keeping these people locked up.

Feinstein's bill is ridiculous. She clearly knows this, so I guess I will give her credit for trying to ban semi-auto handguns even and trying to once again increase the size of government in terms of taxes levied and growth of government jobs. I honestly think had she just stuck to what she could likely get, she would have more success with those more moderate gun owners, or those who see a need for handgun self-protection.

Okay. Goodbye!
What did you just say goodbye to? I can't believe that anyone who leans as far left as you do owns anything.

I own one gun that I bought for myself as a birthday present just over two weeks ago. It happens to be one of those S&W 9mms with the horrible 14 bullet magazine. Oh, yes I will cut back to 10 round magazines as soon as Mrs. Feinstein comes out with one the same size, in length. This thing fits my hand so perfectly with its 14 round mag and I won't just put 10 in it.

You didn't see where Feinstein wants to ban handguns, especially those of the semi-automatic variety, I see.

I am buying ammo right and left for my new Smith & Wesson because I have seen through what she is proposing

Say Goodbye To Glocks, Sig Sauers & Shotguns Under Feinstein “Assault Weapons Banâ€
Why do you care about any of this?

I've hunted with rifles and with a bow, and the difficulty level is about the same, quite frankly.

As for assault weapons, I'm still waiting for a definition of such, which nobody can seem to supply us with. Please, fill this empty void and let us know what an assault weapon is.

On to the OP, this idiotic bill, which I've taken to calling "Feinstein's Folly," is nothing but a transparent attempt to make firearms ownership almost impossible. The majority of handguns in circulation would be affected simply because of the magazine capacity, not to mention the numerous rifles that will be banned.
I have been waiting and waiting for one of the grabbers to explain what an assault rifle is. I wish one of them would look at posts #57 and #58 and tell me which of them is not an assault weapon. We always had an M1 Carbine in our hut in the Army to protect the expensive equipment in it from those we were protecting and I loved that pretty scary looking thing. Hell they don't even know the difference in that .223 rifle used in Newtown and a .30 caliber weapon. I bet that most of them don't know what caliber means or what sizes are most dangerous to people.

This is likely the appeal of guns to many white, elderly, men. You can be completely out of shape, in a wheelchair, diabetes, undergoing kidney dialysis, 1 year from the rest home, etc. and still be able to pull the trigger of gun. That's got to be a big ego boost to these poor souls that they can still defend their home. But sad that it's basically all they have. That's where the gun hoarding comes in.

Feinstein knows that Harry Reid will never allow a vote in the Senate on what she has proposed. I am pretty sure that she know that too. I guess she wants people like Chuck Schumer, New York state, to think that she is one of them.

Note that Feinstein is in the Senate. Before she can pass anything, she has to get it out of the Senate. Her bill is very likely to die of a filibuster before than. Even tough the Democrats control the senate, there are several Dems from anti-gun control states that are just not going to vote for anything Feinstein puts out.

Even if she got it out of the Senate. This would never even come up for a vote in the House.

So, in short, this bill would be DOA.
I don't think Dirty Harry would allow this one to be voted on in the Senate. Think how embarrassing it would be for him and other Dems to have their votes registered as Nay.
