I've worked hard, worked long, long days, had somewhat unrealistic goals placed on me, drove many, many miles and sometimes felt unappreciated. But I never felt mistreated.

People tend to think that socialist nations have better employers than we do.....you would be very, very mistaken.

I'm having a hard time believing that the flight attendants don't get paid from the moment they are on the plane. in my experience, if an employee is off the clock (that is, not being paid at that point), they must have the freedom to do whatever they want and to be wherever they want to be.

I used to work for a large healthcare system, and for a long time, certain employees were required by their supervisor to carry a beeper while on their unpaid lunch break, and they were not to leave the hospital in case an emergency required them to quickly return to work. There were several other labor issues that were going on, but the beepers at lunch were happening in my own area. One employee hired an attorney, and (long story made short) the entire healthcare system ended up paying back over 20 MILLION dollars to several hundred employees who had been unfairly paid. One man I worked with got almost $30,000.

If this article is true, it's time for those flight attendants to hire an attorney!

Well alphamale, I'm not you. If I ever feel mistreated or unappreciated, I would start saving my money and leave. I'm actually unemployed right now, but I wouldn't let someone mistreat me. You might not call it mistreatment, but I'm not you.

It doesn't matter whether or not they have better employers than we do. Our standard for treating employees should be homegrown. Are we not humane and righteous people in the United States?

Lots of people get paid when they actaully start working. But this is under contracts as far as airlines workers.Lots of management do not get overtime or have set hours under governamnt work'its called exempt employeees. Some get apid purely on salry and evn don't egt nayhtig until; after 48 hours. That is government labor laws.

No, but the busser and waiters and cooks who worked for Velvet Turtle and got laid off then rehired by the same company (American Restaurant Group) at the Black Angus restaurant (at less money) they opened in the same spot wants to complain.

That seems fair. Bus drivers only get minimum wage and a plane is just a flying bus. In fact, its safer, and the pilot has cabin crew to keep order and process tickets, unlike a bus driver. Ive heard of stories where pilots have forged licenses and had no problems. Its not a hard job.

Similarly, one of britains most successful lawyers has no formal qualifications but is self taught.

Ive heard similar stories about doctors, engineers. One of my great great grandads built beautiful houses over 100 years ago. They are still standing now. He had no qualifications, couldnt even read or write but got his wife to read for him.

Its an utter scam that you are told you need to get tens of thousands into debt to listen to some jumped up socialist lecture you at university. YOU have potential from within. Trust in YOURSELF, teach YOURSELF no one else. And NEVER listen to teachers. All based around govt issuing licenses to make you subservient to them in your choice of career.
