Leave that chit to Cheney's company and people of that ilk, you know of who I speak ~ MERCENARIES!
With about 900 foreign military bases around the world and 280+/- in Germany, I think the U.S. can afford to scale back, a tad.

PS - shouldn't they have already gotten this notice per the WARN Act?
Yes, but your government "waived" the WARN Act by demanding that employers NOT send out the required 60 day notices and by offering to pay for legal representation for companies who are sued for NOT following the WARN Act.

Can you believe that? If you pay attention to how your government handles your tax dollars, then i'm sure you can.

Total Government Employment Since 1962

1962 - 5,354,000
2010 - 4,443,000
Most (1968) - 6,639,000
Least (2000) - 4,129,000
I came across a link the other day that showed with the exception of the increase in TSA employees, following 9/11, the federal government is now operating with the same number of employees as it did in the early 80's. And yeah, it's all Obama's fault.

NRA is taking care of this.

Depends on how each contract was written and where it is funding-wise (option year, recompete, etc).

Government in all forms is the largest employer in the U.S. and has been for 75 years.
Unions and Government/GI Bill have done more to lift people out of poverty and grow the middle class than anything else, and I say this as someone not particularily fond of unions, today.

Government is the largest consumer. Cutting government spending means unemployment and bankrupty of private sector businesses. Lockheed and Northop would not survive. Back in July, Lockheed announced it would minimally lay off 10,000 if we go over the cliff.

Having said this, we are not going off the cliff. In the event the Washington Drama Queens can't pull it together today, they will do so next week and make it retroactive.

Yeah, GREAT strategy, SPEND! SPEND! SPEND!

What right wing snow job!

Just HOW is it so many other countries mangae to deter attacks on their territory spending far fewer $$$ than the US?

The alleged conservatives are quite amazing with their LESS GOVERNMENT/LESS SPENDING mantra while they turn around and continually propose BIGGER MILITARY/MORE MILITARY SPENDING as if the military is some mystical entity not connected to the government in any way. shape, or form.

Of course, in another thread you made a lame attempt to justify the Vietnam war by citing the NVA's ideology being a threat to the US while completely ignoring the fact the USSR and China shared the same ideology yet we somehow didn't feel the need to invade those countries so your lack of logic is hardly surprising.

Why don't you just be honest and admit you enjoy watching $$$ pi$$ed away with no ROI as long as it suits your agenda?
