Aha! Okay let's keep going with this... Your right to "bear arms" isn't supposed to be infringed upon either. So I'm assuming you support open carry for everyone in schools, government buildings, courtrooms, on planes, in bars, at sporting events, etc, right? No registration either right? No waiting periods? Background checks? And no limits on the type of guns? Fully automatic? Maybe even a surface-to-air missile in your backyard? Would you like an age limit?

And also, you're also calling for a mandatory life sentence for all felons and mandatory institutionalization for everyone with a mental illness. Sounds like fun.

Okay, well I am off to bed, I am sure this thread will be up to 20+ pages by the time I get up because we all know how much gun nuts and Cons love to freak out about public records.

Do you think it is 'morally ethical' what the NY paper is doing by publishing gun owners names?

Don't you know? The mainstream media are all America-hating commies that will stop at nothing to destroy the Constitution and enslave and brainwash us all. You think CBS News is above faking an entire court proceeding to push their agenda? Lemming.

From the article in the OP link:

A similar situation threatened in Illinois in 2011. The Associated Press had asked anti-Second Amendment State Attorney General Lisa Madigan if it could publish the names and addresses of registered gun owners in Illinois; she agreed and ordered the state police to turn over the records. But the police refused to do so and pleaded with the state legislature to craft some legislation so that they wouldn't have to.

Illinois State Senator Kirk Dillard obliged, and a law was quickly written and passed to prevent the state from publicizing the names and address of Illinois gun owners. Even Illinois' anti-gun governor saw the sense and political need to sing the bill.

Didn't we go over this? It's PUBLIC RECORD. If it weren't, they wouldn't publish it. This whole thing is drummed up. Who cares?

yep, anything that an individual soldier can use by himself, then it should also be available to any individual citizen to use as well.

missles and the like no, because those are crew served weapons. but anything else, yep.

also open carry into anyplace is fine by me.

more guns = less crime.

age limit? age is determined by your parents. if they think you are responsible enough to own a firearm, then why not. I got my 1st firearm at age 4.

You Cons are too funny, any time something happens that you disagree with, it must be a ponzi scam....I bet you are also one of those people who thinks you are always right and everyone else is always wrong too.

No, I think it is unethical and pointless for them to be doing this. I do not think it is illegal to publish public records though.
