Yes you are correct, but typically raises and at least cost of living increases were given to offset the rising prices. Right now we have rising prices and no correction in raises and cost of living increases. Add this on the the reduction in take home pay and here's where we are.

I saw this coming and thought it was a bad move for the very reason why people are complaining now. The uninformed actually think that Obama raised their taxes, not realizing it was Obama who initiated this payroll tax holiday. There isn't much that I agree with regarding Pres. Bush, but looking back, his checks, $300 per person were actually a good idea. It made him look good while putting some spending money in our pockets. We knew it was a one shot deal and didn't grow our lifestyle to it.

I would have to agree with you. The downside was that everyone knew this and banked it and didnt spend it.

WE're talking about the Bush rebates not the 2% tax holiday.

So people people banked the Bush tax cuts but not the Obama tax cuts? I don't think so. Based on saving rates and the amount of debt in the US people spent pretty much everything they got in tax cuts.

I still do, but I may be part of a dying breed. Going to start buying gold bars and bury them in my backyard.

Not as easy or impossible to do with rising prices, no raises and the removal of the tax holiday.
