I agree. This kid's father was apparently an active part of his life. He was nurtured. Both of his parents worked and not at minimum wage jobs. His mother is a teacher. They recognized his intelligence at an early age. He was sent to schools that fostered his gifts. He was encouraged to do well. His academic success was appreciated. He was involved in his school and not just in academics. He gave back using his gifts by tutoring. It appears he was raised in a home with what are considered traditional middle class values. I have said many times, on many threads, the poor academic outcomes of black students isn't a result of innate ability, or even to a large degree the schools, but the black culture. When we can present all black children, or children of any race, the environment of this child's home they have a chance to not just succeed but soar.
Lady, you just said a mouthful of truth and many won't understand much of it. So many kids have the same kind of ability but not what is needed at home and that is something that too many of the traditional middle class just don't catch on to.
If he attended Germantown Academy since he was old enough to go to school he had superior educational resources and opportunities.
Many White Americans confuse having superior resources and opportunities with racial superiority.
This young man is not so different than any other kid in America. Give them a chance to get a quality education and a healthy environment and chances are they will do well.
i notice that you carefully disregarded the fact that this kid has an IQ of 151. probably because it didn't fit your 'superior educational resources and opportunities' meme..
Anyone can learn.
My black kids are learning Mandarin in school.
School has to be a place where it is safe to learn, and where an atmosphere of learning is actually encouraged.
... and black kids are encouraged to do well instead of being taunted by their peers back in the hood for "acting white".

A kid with a 151 IQ could end up in prison too, if he grows up in the wrong environment.
Unfortunately when he ends up at a premier college full ride taking all honors and publishing his first peer reviewed article as a freshman, all the angry racists and people not admitted come out of the wood work and claim AA. In their mind no black kid can excel.

For every black kid back in the hood taunting him for "acting white" there is at least one non-black kid, teacher or police officer in the burbs taking him to task for being "uppity".
