For every black kid back in the hood taunting him for "acting white" there is at least one non-black kid, teacher or police officer in the burbs taking him to task for being "uppity".
Yeah because if there is one thing police officers and teachers hate is dealing with a polite, well groomed, education focused, properly raised African-American.

You'd be surprised. It would be great if good blacks were always treated in according to their character and behavior, but in many cases they are only met with treatment that reflects the biases and anxieties of those unaccustomed to blacks who defy their long-held, rigid, hitherto uncontested pre-conceptions.

Yes, it would be great if everything were perfect all the time but since on rare occasions they are not we must all pretend that there is a "crisis" that limits the potential of a whole ethnic group.
...and this "crisis" must be "addressed" through government "action".

...until things are PERFECT.
That's precisely the problem. It's not rare. Certainly no crisis, but it is common enough to warrant continued enforcement of laws that have been put in place to mitigate the frequency of its occurrence.

This is definitely correct. The funny part is, some black Americans do not realize that the easiest way to get back at the system, is to "get yours," by simply becoming an educated, productive member of society. When non black people see you living well -they take note, because it doesn't conform to what they've read in the newspaper or watched on the news.
A number of non black Americans are simply more comfortable w/ encountering blacks who closely align with the negative stereotypical behavior.
I get the double looks quite often when I wear my ivy league alum tee-shirt, while shopping at whole foods. Who knew!
This young man is certainly going places. Based on his track record, he's more likely to end up at Harvard, MIT or CalTech and then Silicon Valley, not prison.
