I would encourage kids to get an education and go into high-technology fields where their skills will be well-compensated. If they lack the intelligence, then learn an in-demand trade.
As a vet I would not recommend joining the military. Unfortunately, we have citizens like the OP who will cheer, and wrap themselves in the flag and support any war, for any political reasons. They can't say no. Whatever reason some politician gives for sending our sons/daughters off to war they will support. All the wars we are fighting now are immoral, senseless, costly, eroding civil liberties, and lowering the morality of this society.
They find meaning in slavish devotion to authority.
Sure. There was Leonid Brezhnev, Yuri Andropov, Konstantine Chernenko, Andrei Gromyko, Mao, Hua Guofeng and Saddam Hussein.
Right, shooter! That was what they wanted, to take over the United States. Can you provide a shred of evidence that any one of those leaders had any interest at all in invading the United States?
Saddam Hussein did have weapons of mass destruction.
Oh wait.....
Better to fight them over there than over here!
