Are we reading something different because I read nothing about a crowbar in the link. In fact, I am asking what weapon he used for him to be shot so many times
Possibly he intended to use the weapon between his legs.
I heard about this story on Lars Larson yesterday, who made a good point. She shot the intruder 5 times, most or all center mass (not the face, as I've seen reported). The guy had a punctured lung, liver, and stomache. The guy was able to leave the house, get in his car, and drive away, but crashed within a couple of blocks.
What if this had been a team of two, or even three? The lady would be in real trouble, unless was very skilled at reloading her revolver.
It's a argument for why a semi auto with a 15-rd or more magazine is a better choice for the average person for self-defense. Also an argument for why people should be allowed to have mags with more than 10 rounds. It took this woman 6 rounds just to (barely) take care of one intruder.
Please never threaten anyone with a gun unless you intend to shoot them. I'm glad you were not hurt or killed.
I know how to handle a gun. I did intend to shoot them if they approached me. I just didn't have to in the long run and I'm glad. That would have been messy.

Agreed, that or a .357 or .45 might have dropped him in one shot.
I never meant to imply the glass was impenetrable, just highly unlikely to be smashed through with a small hammer or small tool that most burglars use to get into through windows or even doors. The fact remains that no burglar is going to spend 5 minutes trying to smash and then get through your window while an alarm has gone off, and especially NOT while you're at home, same goes for the door. If you want to carry a gun in a holster while you're walking around your home and sleep with one under your pillow be my guest. Most break ins happen while you're at work anyway. No one is going through all this imaginary trouble and risk, you've conjured up, when doors can be opened with one foot kick.
This exactly why my gun is on my hip or very close by, if someone kicks the door in, they won't take another step!
