I wonder why the same proposal wasn't brought forward during the Bush administration or even the Reagan administration.. The whole idea is simply ridiculous,...
It has to get out of committee, then the speaker or majority leader has to bring it to the floor for a vote. Then it has to pass the opposite house of congress. Then it has to to the WH for a sign-off.
You can all relax now.
So you think that Obama would fail to sign something like that? Hmmmmmm.
I'd be in favor of it. Installing the limit in the first place was an over reaction to begin with, it wasn't like we were having a big problem with President's serving several terms. In fact only one did out of 32 Presidents. Or 32 administrations.
It shouldn't apply to the sitting President though. Maybe not even to the next President if we're close to an election
Who was the President when Amendment 22 became law? It was a Republican law and the funniest thing about it is that Truman never wanted to use that third term and their man, Eisenhower, was the first on who was stopped from serving a third term. I was a good Democrat back then and laughed my butt off at them for what they did to themselves.
I can't find any "reliable" sources, but there are plenty of links reporting that last Friday Serrano proposed HJ Resolution 15 to the Consitution which would remove the limitation as to how long a President can serve.
Rumors on the internet??? Must be true. Assuming it is true and it passes, all the GOP has to do is kick the tea party to the curb, nominate a moderate candidate with a little bit of charisma and Obama is out of there.

I'd go for a rider on that amendment that would require any succeeding re-election must be at 65% of electoral votes. If a guy wants re-election bad enough, it's gonna cost a helluva a lot.
Virginia is, by most measures, a very successful state. This is due at least in part to a one-term limit on its governorships. For that reason, VA governors are able to concentrate on running the state to get as much done as possilbe without having to contend with re-election politicking. I support this for the Presidency as well.
