Obviously Sen. Reid is too stupid to hold public office.

Comparing the category 1 hurricane remnant that hit the northeast with a category 5 hurricane that hit the Gulf States is absurd on its face, but to suggest Sandy was worse than Katrina is beyond stupid.

Isn't it interesting that even Reid admits that under Obama's leadership, response to natural disasters is poorer than it was under GWB?

Its a pretty macabre, distasteful way of getting your point across.

Not taking sides, but, if you watch the video, he's specifically talking about response time for providing aid and number of homes destroyed. Don't think this needs to be made into anything more than that...

New Orleans lost about 75,000 homes during Katrina.

New York state, alone, lost about 305,000 homes during Sandy.

I worked in NO post-Katrina, and my parents live in LI, hence I can vouch the level of preparation, response time, and forms of assistance, for both disasters were abysmal in their own special ways.

Reid was specifically talking about the economic damage, and amount of time it is taking to get the aid, since its being held up in the House. In Nassau & Suffolk counties alone there are more than 95,000 buildings (homes, businesses, etc) that have suffered damage or were destroyed as a result of the storm, more than 38,000 of those, the damage was more than half the value of the building. And this is just Nassau & Suffolk, it doesn't even take into consideration Queens, Staten Island, Jersey or any other areas impacted by the storm.

No question the economic damage and quantity of people affected made Sandy's impact harder to repair. In short, population density magnifies a storm's impact. That is why NO was the Katrina news story, not Bama, as it did not hit urban areas in Bama.

Sandy did what America feared-water surge in our most densely populated region.

Is he f-en kidding?! I'm at a loss for just how insipidly stupid some people can be. Sandy was NOTHING compared to Katrina!

As for amount of homes damaged, I don't give a crap about buildings, the real issue was the lives lost! THAT is what matters.
