Need closure because the cops put down an Elk. Sadly this isn't a satire piece from the Onion. I would be grieving because they didn't fire up the coals and cook that sucker up.

"Vigil organizer Jim Riemersma said he wanted to give the neighborhood an opportunity to grieve, celebrate and find “a little bit of closure.” The vigil was held on Mountain View Road at the site of a tree memorial and near the yard where the elk was shot.

“I know a lot of us have had a lot of anger, a lot of questions, a lot of uncertainty,” he said. “Tonight's a celebration, a celebration of the elk. We loved him. But I think he loved us, too, because he returned to this neighborhood.”

They aren't hurting anyone, so forgive me for not being outraged.

The stupidest part of the story to me is the cops that discharged a weapon in the city, killed an elk without a permit, and then didn't report any of it. I imagine they will be fired.

Maybe the loons of boulder should take away the cops guns. That way dear Elk would still be alive.

The cop had no way of knowing what kind of criminal record that elk might have had.

Few elk are ever "printed".

Looks like you shoot an Elk and a posse of Obama supporters shows up. Good way to weed em out.

Okay...the ceremony seems to be a bit weird.

However, cops poaching a damn moose isn't cool at all. The community obviously felt strongly about this animal, and didn't want it killed. To find out that your own police did it illegally SHOULD p*ss off the community.

I'm sure the union hall had a nice dinner in honor of dear Elk.
