I think this is the disconnect.
Most people I know who own guns don't own them for protection.
They own them because they enjoy shooting, etc.
Happy coincidence that they are useful in another way.

You have to live with that.

In the US, things and corporations are more important than people.

Why don't you climb down off your high horse and join the rest of us in the real world.

The person breaking into another's home has made the choice to put their own life on the line. Don't want to get shot? Don't break into my home. Pretty f-ing simple concept to understand.

I have two young children. There is absolutely nothing more valuable to me than their lives and welfare. If some jackass decides he wants to break into my home and I'm there with my family I'm not going to take the time to quiz him on his intentions. In home invasion situations the difference between life and death can be a mere few seconds. In my home I will defend myself and my family from uninvited intruders in any way I see fit. It is justifiable and I will sleep good at night.

So save the sanctimonius bull-s-h-i-t for your idiot liberal friends chielgirl.

castle laws make perfect sense. after all, anyone breaking into your home for any reason, is not there to wish you a happy new year and shake your hand. they are there to rob or murder you.

Don't forget rape....which I can make an educated guess that is what the intuder wanted to do who broke into the woman's home and found her in the crawl space with her 9 year twins....thank god she killed the POS.

If a burglar is a valid threat to your safety, shooting them would be justified. Shooting someone because they tried to steal your big screen TV is immoral and repugnant behavior.

This statement and line of thought is very dangerous... AKIN to saying it isn't rape until he reaches orgasm....

They have violated your home and safety. You have a right to shoot.

I would hate to have to kill someone in my home in order to protect my family but I will without a second thought, I'll deal with the grief later while I enjoy another meal with all of my family members still alive.

If you personally want to sit down, make some coffee and have a little heart to heart about what their true intentions might have been that's your choice and I fully support that choice as long as my family members aren't in your house at the time.

Those of you who throw out all of these insane statements about using tasers, baseball bats, hiding and calling 911, hoping they don't find you, etc etc etc have clearly never been through a home invasion. While some burglars have no violent intentions, people do pretty crazy things when cornered and their freedom becomes at risk.
Unless of course you make a mistake and this happens.

However, confronting the intruder with a gun is usually not the best course of action to take in that situation.
Don't bring a knife to a gun fight.
