Agreed but not nearly as much as working on commission.

You can pay for it through higher prices on the meal when you are in a place that doesn't have tipping. Higher wages, higher meal prices. Or you can pay for it by tipping the better servers who give you better service. (and attractive females, lets face it men we do that)
If it comes out that the overall costs are close in the end, not saying it does, then reward the better worker.

It's like shopping in Europe as opposed to the US.
In Europe, taxes are included in the price of an object.
In the US, it's an additional charge.

I prefer knowing what I'm expected to pay up-front.

It's just a preference.
Yea.

It's extremely difficult to calculate sales tax on an item.

What a loser. If you can't "afford" a proper tip go to McDonalds.

I am on my phone, please forgive the typos.

I am still a generous tipper. However, I cut off all of my contributions to the United Way and stopped my scholarships for the disadvantaged to our local Catholic high school and the state university. Obama has created a marked divide in the US and there is no point in supporting those who vote against your own interests. We give donations now to an overseas orphanage.

Why should one feed the hand that bites them?

Not sure about California, but in NY, waiters and waitresses were always allowed to be paid less than minimum wage. This is because it was assumed by the government that they wouldn't report ALL of the money they made in cash tips.

I know so many people who are angry about Obama getting in. HIgher taxes is not what they want. Of course this president is daily on tv .I never saw so much of one president. We have all gotten so sick of Obama lies and many are fuming because of his no character lies and many do not trust him at all. His socialist words of spread the wealth around sociaiism is just what men died for in wars to stem the tide of socialism and now we have a president who puts down capitalism, the rich and wants to spread the wealth around.

I don't blame this person for what he wrote. Many are fed up and taxing and spending will continue with Obama. Where is the budget? Obama has driven us into deep debt and will continue and passing the tax debt unto future generations will indeed happen!.
Good luck to all those young people as their paychecks dwindle with higher taxes , higher food costs and higher energy costs. Obama's dream of getting gas prices as high as Europe, $10 a gallon will crush this economy. Obama doesn't care about this country. His world vision does not include you democrats. You are being used and his power to buy you off is his way to destroy this country and the future generations to come. I pity you for giving your vote to Obama not knowing what he is doing to this country and not smart enough to look down the road of the consequences Obama has given you.

Let's see...so you're STILL gonna be a generous tipper (priority: very important), but charitable giving (obviously not as important) is what's gonna have to suffer, huh? LMAO...nice to know that your priorities are straight.

Not that I believe any of it. This tax increase doesn't affect you for one, because its on more income than you make in 5 years, let alone one year. So let's clear that up now.

And secondly, if your heart was deeply into charitable giving, you'd do it despite the tax increase. So that's all b.s. too.

What a shocker.

Back in the 1990s, I typically took home over $200/day from waiting tables.

That's more than $291.50 in today's money.

Show me where ordinary low-skilled workers can take home $300/day besides the US.
Welcome to CD, where even the servers are wealthy.

When I get bad service I write on the back of the check to bet on number 4 in the sixth race. That is my "tip".

No one expects you to be a big tipper when you get poor service. That's a different topic altogether. I still leave something even after poor service, but definitely not my normal 20%. No way.

But I've got no issue with no tip being left at all. However, being the person that I am, I couldn't leave a note. I'd have to tell the person directly that I'm not gonna leave a tip and explain why. That's seems to be the right thing to do.

Why exactly do conservatives use the the word MSM as if it some how discredits someones argument? You should actually post an example that backs up your claim instead of hiding behind the firewall of "MSM". Its a childish argument especially considering that you people dont consider fox the "MSM" and they have more viewers than the other networks combined.

Once again, you engage in a logical fallacy while pretending to have information that you dont. Democrats believe in people paying their fair share. if these people make, say 400,000 a year their net tax in the coming year will still fall below 20%,where as someone like me and probably you will pay about 26%. Do you think that is fair ????

And again, How exactly did you know the waiter/waitress were democrats????

You ask waitresses whom they voted for before you pay the bill? I admire your dedication to petty retribution.
