inconvenience? you can't wait a few days to pass a background check? what are you 10 years old? is someone threatening your life that you need the gun right then and there? if that's the case then I suggest you call the cops!
A background check is just fine. I've bought plenty of guns; here in UT it takes the dealer 5 min to make a call and complete it. Background checks are good and should be UNIVERSAL for gun purchases. If it took a couple of days that's fine too.

Waiting periods don't do stalked women who are in imminent danger any good.
You typically get three results back:
1. Pass, you get the gun immediately
2. Denied, you don't get the gun
3. Delayed, FBI will run further investigate on you within 3 days. If nothing, you get your gun after 3 days.

If you buy a car from a private individual, they don't usually ask to even see your drivers license.. Even some smaller dealers don't when you are buying with cash...
Yes, but when you go to transfer the title of that car, you have to show your license in order to do so.

what do you have to fear from a background check unless you are a criminal? I don't understand how anyone in their right mind could be opposed to background checks and waiting periods when buying a gun. do many members of the NRA have criminal backgrounds? then I could see why they would be opposed to it.
I would take it a step further and require gun owners to be licensed. you need a license to drive a car but any idiot can legally own a gun?
I oppose a waiting period when buying a gun because it's stupid and pointless. You're already getting checked for felonies, pending convictions, misdemeanors, domestic violence, residency, and citizenship when you buy a gun. There's no need to wait around once the NICS check comes back clear.
I guess you have never bought a car before? you actually think the DMV will give you title to a vehicle without a valid driver license? go ahead and try it. they will laugh in your face.

One thing you need to know is that human is not impulsive as what the media and University of Hollywood want you to believe. Human is a habitual animal and goes through progression in its emotion development.
Impulsive humans are extremely rare and they are either dead or in the mental hospital because they can't function in normal society.
Instant background check is fine as long as the database is good. It doesn't take long to run through the database - a few milisec in reality.
