Our proud history of Liberty as defined by our Founding Fathers, and
Physical preparedness to survive and prevail in the face of natural catastrophes — such as Hurricanes Sandy or Katrina — or man-made catastrophes such as a power grid failure or economic collapse.

The Citadel is not your typical planned community where the developer's objective is selling cookie-cutter homes at the highest possible profit-margin.

The Citadel is not profit-driven. The Citadel is Liberty-driven: specifically Thomas Jefferson's Rightful Liberty.

Marxists, Socialists, Liberals and Establishment Republicans will likely find that life in our community is incompatible with their existing ideology and preferred lifestyles.

DESCRIPTION: The Citadel Community will house between 3,500 and 7,000 patriotic American families who agree that being prepared for the emergencies of life and being proficient with the American icon of Liberty — the Rifle — are prudent measures. There will be no HOA. There will be no recycling police and no local ordinance enforcers from City Hall.

LOCATION: We are in the process of selecting the ideal location among the beautiful mountains of Idaho in the American Redoubt.

PROJECT LAUNCH: We plan to purchase land for the Citadel in 2013 and break ground soon after. Even before unveiling our national advertising campaign, more than 200 families reserved space within our community!

WHY APPLY FOR RESIDENCE: If living in an affordable, safe, well-prepared, patriotic community where your children will be educated in school rather than indoctrinated, consider the Citadel. Approved applicants receive a Lifetime Lease (paid off in only 30 years). No credit check. No background check. Zero down payment. Zero interest. Zero property taxes.

HOUSING DETAILS: All homes will be built of poured concrete for exceptional strength and durability. Your home will be built to your specs (details available at this website) with utilities stubbed to the interior. You select the facade for the exterior of your home. You are responsible for completing the interior of your home as you wish. You may choose to do the work yourself, or hire contractors. But every single detail, from paint to tiles to counters, is your choice.

If Liberty has been missing from the life of your family, consider the Citadel for your new home.

Citadel Patriot Agreement

Preamble: We the People come together in this covenant of our free will and do pledge our Lives, our Fortunes and our Sacred Honor to defend one another and Jefferson's Rightful Liberty, defined as unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. We further affirm our intent to abide all Constitutional laws of the United States of America and our State of residence.

One: Once ratified, this list of conditions may only be altered by unanimous consent of all parties governed by this Agreement, i.e. full-time Residents. Full-time residency will be defined by a select panel of full-time Residents who will also establish guidelines for acceptable exceptions for absences.

Two: Every able-bodied Patriot aged 13 and older governed by this Agreement shall annually demonstrate proficiency with the rifle of his/her choice by hitting a man-sized steel target at 100 yards with open sights at the Citadel range. Each Resident shall have 10 shots and must hit the target at least 7 times.

Three: Every able-bodied Patriot aged 13 and older governed by this Agreement shall annually demonstrate proficiency with a handgun of choice by hitting a man-sized steel target at 25 yards with open sights at the Citadel range. Each Resident shall have 10 shots and must hit the target at least 7 times.

Four: Every able-bodied Patriot of age within the Citadel will maintain one AR15 variant in 5.56mm NATO, at least 5 magazines and 1,000 rounds of ammunition. The responsibility for maintaining functional arms and ammunition levels for every member of the household shall fall to the head of household. Every able-bodied Patriot will be responsible for maintaining a Tactical Go Bag or Muster Kit to satisfy the Minuteman concept. Details TBD and posted elsewhere.

Five: Every household within the Citadel will remain stocked with sufficient food, water, and other preparedness essentials (to be detailed elsewhere) to sustain the needs for every member of the household for a duration of one year.

Six: Every able-bodied Patriot aged 13 and older shall pass a class every three years sponsored by the Citadel on basic emergency medical care; the courses shall focus on battlefield and wilderness environments.

Seven: Every child attending Citadel schools — with parental discretion for maturity — shall have as part of every semester's class curriculum basic marksmanship and firearms safety training leading to the proficiency test on the child's 13th birthday as a "Coming of Age" rite of passage (a parent may attend the classes or personally train the child if so desired). Children attending schools beyond the Citadel, or home-schooled, are required to meet the same proficiency standards at age 13.

Eight: All Patriots, who are of age and are not legally restricted from bearing firearms, shall agree to remain armed with a loaded sidearm whenever visiting the Citadel Town Center. Firearm shall be on-the-person and under the control of the Resident, not merely stored in a vehicle.

Nine: Each household will provide ONE able-bodied Patriot (aged 13 or older) who shall muster one Saturday per month for Martial/Support Training for neighborhood-level training & musters, as set forth by the Militia Commanders of the Community. No single Patriot shall be required to muster more than once per quarter. In the course of every calendar year every able-bodied Patriot and every full-time resident in each household must participate in at least three musters (one neighborhood-level and two full-scale). Part-time residents must participate, in good faith, to the best of their ability.

Ten: Twice annually a full-scale Town Defense Drill will be held for all households and all residents (once in winter weather & once in summer weather).

Eleven: The Town Militia will hold an award/recognition ceremony on April 19th each year to celebrate Patriot's Day.

Twelve: Violations of this Agreement will result in review by an arbitration panel consisting of Citadel Residents with appropriate and proportional disciplinary action taken. The most severe disciplinary action may include the loss of Lease and expulsion from the community.

Thirteen: All Citadel Citizens agree to accept dispute resolution by an arbitration panel in the event a problem that cannot be resolved between residents.

I bolded a few that stood out to me. There's a lot more crazy stuff at the link. Good luck with all that, especially no property tax. Reading through their site, I'm reminded of the movie "The Village." They won't fess up to it, but it sure sounds cultish, and like a disaster waiting to happen.

Idaho's Walled & Armed Community - The Colbert Report - 2013-09-01 - Video Clip | Comedy Central

This stuff is what underlies conservative political thinking fear and hatred.

The NRA with their insanity. The Republican House threatening to destroy the nation's economy every 2-3months.

Then you have conservative voters, who in large part are even more radical and insane then their spokes people.

Many gun nut conservatives are thinking about killing people right now over the mention of an executive order on guns. They are making videos to that effect. I think the greatest thing the media could do is allow conservative voters open airtime so everyone can listen to the insanity of their views.

You have these conservative preppers who are stock piling guns to fight what they fear will be the roving hoards of black and brown people when the US economy collapses.

You have conservatives admitting that they need these military style weapons so they can kill government officials if they become tyrannical.
You have these gun nuts with fantasies of shooting criminals in their homes. You have gun nuts walking around town with rifles strapped to their bodies past schools to prove a point.

And now the citadel.
Insanity.

"The Great American Citadel/Redoubt" was a phrase coined back in the 1990's by Neo-Nazis who believed the northern mountain region was their last best hope for an all white right wing redoubt where they could build their supposed whites only mother land. FACT.

That's why you had neo-Nazi wackos like the ones at Rubio Ridge moving there and trying to have their climatic gun battle with the Feds. This movement was almost forgotten by everyone but the most die hard nutzis until Obama got reelected and then suddenly the far right going crazy became popular again just like in the 90's so now it's back on their radar as if the last 20 years never happened.

Now it's become popular with another line of crazy; the so called doomsday preppers who think the end of the world is at hand. It's not surprising as several of the big "prepper" source books which helped kick the movement off were written by former neo-Nazis so much of the foundational stuff did have the same underpinnings at least in the beginning. They feel the current society is doomed so they need to flee to BFE, build their doom bunker, fill it with guns/ammo/canned food, and then wait for everyone who isn't part of their movement of the saved to die out. Just like the neo-Nazis thought society tainted by nonwhites and Jews would mysteriously die out. The parallels are almost spooky.

And they want to charge everyone every time they enter or leave their armed compound which, of course, they want to build based upon a medieval German design. Does anyone doubt this is being planned as a skinhead community?

Oh, well, I give it a 90% probability of never even getting off of the ground. I mean they still can't even identify where they want to build it probably because no one wants them near their community.

Great idea.

The community where I have my farm is completely armed and flies the Gadson Flag. I think I am already there, so there would be no reason to move. That area is far from being "neo-nazi" and is just a bunch of farmers who are "live and let live" type people. I have never heard "fascist" or racist rhetoric among those folks.

I am always a little suspicous of organizations trying to get a group of people "of like mind" together with a certain set of rules. It sounds a little too much like a Jim Jones situation. How about just let others choose to live how they prefer and have minimal interference from the government? In that case, there is no need for "redoubts".

I wonder, however............. why is there not similar concern over communes and two of the Muslim "camps" that have sprung up in America?

It's convenient.

Their definition of "Liberty" sure comes with a lot of obligatory requirements, doesn't it? Mandatory militia duty, mandatory firearms testing, mandatory stockpiling, mandatory to carry a handgun in the town center. But they make it clear that there's no HOA, so I guess that's good.

Kinda reminds me of the European Maoist collectives of the 70s - making sure the children are raised with no influence from the decadent surrounding society, training for the inevitable armed struggle soon to come etc.

And if they're going to be anything like previous experiments of this sort, insanely focused on preparing for defense against an outer enemy, then it will be interesting to see what happens when no enemy shows up. Enclaves of this sort have at times turned their attention towards finding and uprooting impure ideological elements in their midst, and that can turn real ugly, real quick. For consenting adults, whatever - but the kids growing up are going to have an interesting time when they get out in the real world.

Anyway, when did hitting a man-sized target 7 times out of 10 at 100 yards mean "proficient"?

Not my cup of tea, but I would donate funds to further this cause.

I'm sure it will be all white, to answer a post we'd question.

No diversity = safe communities.

I found the life-long lease (paid off in only 30 years!) interesting. Does that mean you will not own the land you stand on? The house must be made of concrete, but you are free to choose the interior you want, at your expense? Yet, you can be tossed out if the panel decides you violated the Code?

Note that they do not claim to be a 'non-profit' organization, but 'not profit driven'.

Anyway, if you live in such a planned community, why would everyone need weapons? Are you going to be afraid of your neighbors?
