Hiring more people would certainly pad the books for union dues. Of course, each school would need a new administrative position to coordinate all of this. And the federal government will need to control all of this thru the FBI, so there is room for more federal control and oversight of every school, college, university in America.
That is a risk we run into with cops from all departments. They are people too with all their faults to go with it. Armed deputies remain a viable deterent that has results that are measured much like terrorist attacks - you know it works when things don't happen as often as they used to.
I agree with you. The only issue is the funding but like I mentioned here a post or two ago they (at least the city I live in) squander away piles of money from the DHS. They could put that to good use. Of course they won't and will continue wasting that money and then scream they need more money to save the children. The money to save the children will probably be used to build a new football field or something along those lines and they will scream they need to raise taxes to save the children once again. The cycle just rambles on it seems at times. lol
Now that Obama has said he is open to the idea I wonder how fast the swooners who were screaming what a ridiculous idea this was will reverse course?
Well, if our federal government inserts itself into something as benign as school lunch menus, you think they would back off when it comes to coordinating armed police security in our schools?
But please, don't let me stop you from trying to score cheap points.

In the time it takes to blink the eyes in their dim witted heads.
As soon as they think that the federal government might be in charge of all of this new nation-wide public school, student safety, they will be all over it, applauding it.
Not that a police presence isn't a bad thing, but probably not in primary schools. High-schools have significantly more legal problem that could be addressed with a police presence than primary schools do.
Most all high schools have had at least one armed police office in the school since columbine. I'm sure the NRA nutcases were calling for more "big government" by having them in elementary schools and kindergarten as well. Who knows, maybe they even called for everyone to be armed in day care as well.

Why the hell is Biden meeting with the Video Game industry?
I don't know. Maybe he is looking for discounts.
