I knew it! Reagan was secretly pushing a hidden Nazi agenda with his 1986 assault weapon ban.

But I think it's a pretty bigoted thing to say that it would come from conservatives. If you really feel that way, apply for citizenship abroad. That is about as tin-foil hat nutjob crap as I've heard in a long time.
No thank you, I am happy living in this country and love the city I live in. As for thinking it will come from a conservative, that is an easy one, conservatives are the ones that are all for restricting all other rights except for the right to bare arms.

As liberals propose more gun control, Google searches on ‘Hitler gun control’ spike

Most people are horrible at history, so Hitler is probably one of the few historical figures they are vaguely familiar with.

Doesn't surprise me

Except for those able bodied males in the group he was targeting for genocide. To that group he issued laws preventing them being armed.

He also wore shoes, just like Conservatives. You don't see peace loving liberals wearing shoes.

Just more proof that Hitler was a Conservative.

Gun control works great. As long as you're the group that has the guns.
Out of the 5.7 million Jews murdered in the Holocaust, 142,000 were German. The rest came from occupied countries who, obviously, weren't affected by German weapons legislation in the slightest.

I would cite Chavez or Castro as a better example. Such a divide between poor and super rich that the poor supports Chavez and then once in power Chavez expands power for himself making him basically a dictator arming his supporters and disarming those against him. In their mind of the likes of Castro or Chavez the people are now free because of him and don't need guns anymore.

Trying to portray the Nazi genocide as little more than an act of selective gun control is a lot like pretending all of World War II was just a spat over Sudetenland.

You can't possibly believe that my post was an attempt to do anything of the sort.

People are suggesting that an armed populace is no deterrent to a maniacal dictator, and are pointing out the relaxation of Germany's gun control laws just before the beginning of the Holocaust. I think it's important to note that, for the group being targeted for genocide, that relaxing of gun control laws did not occur.
