There are many with guns that aren't law abiding citizens as evidenced by all the violence.

GFZ's are the choice of the mentally disturbed. They are crazy, but not stupid, and know that there was no one with a gun to stop them.

It is not about guns, but control, and the mentally ill still fall through the cracks.

There are far more law abiding citizens with guns than there are criminals with guns. Ironically, every single piece of gun control legislation which was proposed after Sandy Hook was aimed at reversing those numbers.

Then the gov't should concentrate on confiscating the illegal guns not those that have legal permits. The states set the rules on gun ownership - here in NY, there are background checks and waiting periods - if someone in the gov't screws up and gives a legal permit to someone who is mentally unstable - don't blame all gun owners or manufacturers - blame the gov't.

Yes.

I knew pretty much nothing about guns, gun laws, etc, and started getting interested due to the debates. I thought it was no big deal to make illegal entire types of common firearms. I thought the AR-15 was a big scary automatic killing machine.

But then.

I learned that these gun control laws simply infringe the constitutional rights of law abiding citizens, and do
nothing to reduce gun violence. That many firearms are vilified for no factual reasons.

You are aware that violence is at a 42 year all time low.

Firearm deaths are almost less then one tenth of one percent of all overall deaths
