This is creating a heated debate on the web. I think it was a good common sense ruling.

Court rules unborn is ‘child’

“An unborn child is a unique and individual human being from conception, and, therefore, he or she is entitled to the full protection of law at every stage of development."

The ruling was not intended nor related to abortion.

Well, I suppose it's time to demand a wrongful death investigation for every spontaneous abortion, then. Seeing as between 25% and 50% of all embryos are spontaneously rejected within six weeks, the good people of Alabama are going to be very, very busy. Oh, and the women quite often don't even know they're pregnant. So, I guess, we're going to have to institute mandatory pregnancy tests. Man, this is going to be expensive.

They are going to have to ban train tracks in Alabama, that's for sure.

Then again, train tracks don't cause fetal death, people do.

The court said from conception. Two very very important words. Sperm and eggs cannot conceive a child by themselves

But they are both half of a human zygote, why don't you want to protect the two halves of a human zygote?

Considering the context and background of the issue that led to the court ruling, I agree.

[keep abortion legal, nevertheless]
