Latin America only appears to be Leftist from the viewpoint of the extreme Conservative fringe, as exemplified by the OP. Just because something is to the left of Pinochet or Michele Bachmann or Jesse Helms, doesn't make it radical Marsixt.

Maybe the reason Latin America turned to the left was because they got tired of being starved to death by brutal puppet dictators like Batista serving American corporate plunderers.

Try discussing politics with an average right-wing dittohead, it is unbelievable the level of ignorance and misinformation.

The dictatorships on this list were all nominally supported, if not actually imposed, by the US government, and none of them were leftist:

Argentina (1930–1932; 1943–1946; 1955–1958; 1966–1973; 1976–1983)
Bolivia (1828–1848; 1861–1871; 1876–1880; 1899–1904; 1920–1931; 1936–1947; 1951–1952; 1964–1971; 1971–1982)

The OP has not travelled overseas extensively (say one visit to Canada via greyhound bus) so their blatant ignorance of the world outside the US border is obvious.

Yea, no kidding. The expat population in Costa Rica is retarded big and in some ways take away from the place.

No, we are not Banana Republics.

We are sovereign nations, and we are no longer accepting the imposition of the ideas of the foreign "experts" who preached the privatization of public services and the dismantle of the State, as we used to accept in the past.

Not to mention the types who think Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez and Ahmadinejad are good people.

Politically, I am right-wing and Conservative- I engaged in several political discussions with people in Brazil while I was there and a person with my views there is basically considered "reactionary", "selfish" and "out of touch"

I feel fortunate to live in a right-center nation where most people understand how absurd these left-wing, Marxist ideas are. God bless the USA!
"Reactionary", "selfish" and "out of touch" sounds about right. I would also add self-hating, pompous, noveau rich and wannabe.
