They already tried drug testing welfare recipients in FL and it ended up costing the state far more than what it would have saved. Very few actually failed.

No matter how many times you repeat that it won't make it true. Any stats indicating that are only including the handful that failed the test and exclude the huge amount that refused the test presumably because they would have failed it.
Problem is not as many welfare recipients are doing drugs as some would have you believe, Drugs are expensive and welfare doesnt pay much so there arent too many who will blow all their entire monthly welfare money on a night or two of drugs, those that do are starving in the streets or are commiting major crime in short order.
As tempest said the program to test all welfare recipients costs more than the money that would be gained by catching a few welfare drug users.

refuse Welfare money/Food Stamps etc.. to those people that fail drug tests, or commit crimes whilst receiving aid?
presumably this would have to be targeted at the unemployed only.
any one in favor?
(I'm not by the way)
I'm in favor of it in principle, but I can't work up much enthusiasm for it. The infrastructure to administer it would just add more bureaucracy with more regulations and more government employees. It'd be nice if people on welfare weren't using their checks to buy drugs but enforcing that would be pretty low on my priority list. We've got a lot of other stuff to work on first.

Jambo in the last month of Floridas program they denied 35% of the applicants, that's not a drop in the bucket. If you're a hardcore drug user that welfare check is gone in days.

Your stats seem to prove you right but what the stats dont say is what these ex welfare recipients now do
Do they just stand on a street corner homeless and starve to death? or do they turn to crime which i would assume ultimately ends up costing more than their paltry welfare checks ever cost.
Up here in Canada if you are an able bodied man with no family to support you dont even qualify for welfare.its basically for single women with children or people who are physically incapable of working.
